I agree with Icaro. The movies terribly mutated batman. Sure, I understand trying to 'contemporize' heroes in movies by getting rid of the spandex, but the are starting to make batman look like something out of Tron. All they need is the glowing bits. At least the older batman movies and even the ham-and-cheese-tastic batman tv show embraced the wackiness of the comics. I must say, I'm kinda sad I don't see Captain America calling every other guy "fella" or "buddy".

My favorite era, yes. Glad someone caught that.

And no, not trolling, I just have my own views on movies?

I think Kaeb meant he and I were trolling you with our reactions. :bitchez

Oh I just thought you were being jokesters. I'd like to hear why he thinks the Nolan movies were good. To be honest.

"I think texting during a funeral service is okay" "In my opinion the Jewish people are inferior." "JFK is married to Tupac and they are living in Atlantis" Not all opinions should be held to the same standard.

My favorite era...

Really? The one that was plagued with censorship and what gave the stigma to comic books as a child's thing?

Oh I just thought you were being jokesters. I'd like to hear why he thinks the Nolan movies were good. To be honest.

I won't be expansive as I'm sure Kaeb or Bac will handle it better. The Nolan movies were good from my stand point as it was interesting interpretation of the character (an amalgamation of The Long Halloween and Year One Batman) brought into a relatable and real looking Gotham that presented believable tech, great acting, and a solid plot in both movies.

Can I just say, Adam West did a much better goofy and slapstick kinda Batman. Trying to be funny, being completely terrible at it, and sucking so bad that it ends up actually being funnier than intended is much more entertaining than just sucking so bad it's funny as hell.

You're right. "I don't like Nolan's Batman" is totally the same.

That's not an opinion, it's called bad trolling or being stupid. Just because someone says "In my opinion" does not make it an opinion.

Also, I hope you realize Cons is gonna be writing a fifty page long report on why he loves Christopher Nolan's Batman movies now, right?

It's called progression, not restricted to thematic or cinematic progression but social progression.

Silver Age comic book strips matched the times they were in with their themes, colours, styles, stories and characters.

World War II, Superman and Captain America fighting Nazis etc.

As society has developed so have comic books developed over the last seventy years.

Complaining that a modern interepretation of an entire series of accumilated material spanning several decades, is like complaining that television doesn't have enough racism anymore.

Or that Wonder Woman's brazier isn't evident enough.

Attempts were made to retreat to the core of the material with the Joel Schumacher series, but as a result all sense and plot was left aside to deliver unfounded, ridiclous and idiotic scenes that made absolutely no sense given the universe.

It follows that Joseph Campbell ideal that the heroes in our fiction, are in fact us battling our own demons, they are a reflection on the human psychque and our societal norms.

Nolans films captured a modernized Batman perfectly, manipulating the material to deliver an excellent entry into the genre that outside of it's financial success has a spectacular plot, excellent performances (Aside from Christain Bale's voice) and excellently written dialogue.

The Joker did not have a goal or a purpose, he was a demented thrill seeker, which is what the Joker has always been at heart, putting aside the humour of it all.

I made peace with the Bale voice because of All-Star Batman and Robin's "it sounds like he's doing a bad Clint Eastwood impersonation" line kinda fits it if you try hard enough.

My only complaint about the Nolan films (besides Rachel Dawes) is the way Gotham City looks. Too much Chicago, not enough gloom and doom and dark and stormy nights and a bunch of other dark, noire-y bits and pieces.

I agree about Gotham and his Voice although distracting, is necessary to hide his identity, although it'd be cool if they instead included a cool voice modulator, but that would be ridiculous.

I never said the movies were a series of Citizen Kanes, but they were damn near close to Alphavilles or Metropilis'.

I don't think we should use Frank Miller to justify anything. I've had a few more lines from the canon comics that fit it better. Like when Tim Drake talks about how he was freaked out when he found out that Bruce worked harder to keep his regular voice. On top of that when he becomes Red Robin he chastises how much he sounds like a kid doing a bad Batman impression when in costume.

I acknowledge that Batman himself needs to speak different than Bruce Wayne. It just makes sense in numerous ways. Take Kevin Conroy for example. As for Bale I thought he did an awesome job in Begins. Somehow he lost his way in Dark Knight.

A cool sounding, Batman-like gadget sounds too ridiculous...for Batman!?

I'm pretty sure somebody somewhere is probably going to use that for a Batman series they're going to write in the near future. If Chris Nolan hasn't already gotten sick of Bale's voice and done it himself.

I haven't picked up a comic book in over a year, so All-Star is the last thing I could come up with right off the top of my mind. Mostly cause the Clint Eastwood impersonation stuck out.

Also, I realize the fact that I haven't picked up a comic book in over a year is incredibly depressing. To me, at least, since I even went to Comic Con.

I just think he was overshadowed by everyone else in Dark Knight, Batman in essence, became a plot device for that movie. But it didn't detract from it, the Batman universe is infinitely more interesting in my opinion than solely Bruce or Batman himself.

Personally, I was always more interested in Commissioner Gordon, Dick Grayson and the Joker than I was Batman...but he's still a pretty great character. I agree with the totally being outdone though, cause Bale was just as good if not a little bit worse in Dark Knight than he was in Batman Begins. But not too much.
