I haven't picked up a comic book in over a year, so All-Star is the last thing I could come up with right off the top of my mind. Mostly cause the Clint Eastwood impersonation stuck out.

Also, I realize the fact that I haven't picked up a comic book in over a year is incredibly depressing. To me, at least, since I even went to Comic Con.

I can definitely grant you that then. I'd say do as I am now and invest in graphic novels. A lot of pages and complete story arcs without having to wait months for a single issue.

I'm a huge fan of the ENTIRE Batman mythos (bar Incorporated and Miller's work, that's just stupid) the large family dynamic and Bruce Wayne himself. That said I was very interested in the series when Bruce Wayne died and Grayson took over. So many repercussions in the Batman Family.

Sir, I've got three crates filled to the brim with every single comic (that I read) from the past year in graphic novel form. From The Avengers, to Batman, even to Daredevil and Spider-man. I'd try to go a little bit less generic heroes, but that's all I can remember that are in the bin right now, cause I haven't looked at it in over a month...

I'm a poor, poor comic book connoisseur. :CCry2

Also, a lot of people complained about Dick becoming Batman, but I'm all for it, can't wait to read that stuff. Not a fan of Damian being Robin, but the turnaround to Robin being emo and serious and Batman being funny and lighthearted amuses me. Especially since I love Dick. :CHappy

AND, All Star Batman and Robin isn't too bad I think. It's better than everything else Miller has done and I kinda like the dickhead version of Batman instead of just super gloomy and serious.

didn't realize they were directed at me. i like the condescension though, it makes you look smart.

i told you why i didn't like it, i understand why you do and that's fine. it's a movie i don't really care enough to get into an argument about why it's good or bad. you've heard my piece and i've heard yours. just because i study film doesn't mean it's worth wasting time arguing about it. i get enough of that in tuts because i don't like Godfather part 2.

From what I've seen most of the characters in the characters and even the plot are based more on the Ultimate universe rather than the mainstream 616 universe.

Just my observations based on Costumes and the basic idea of the plot with Aliens attacking the planet and all.

Well then you have a complete misunderstanding of why it is we study film, literature and all other forms of entertainment, to demand better products and to know what is actually worth our time.

I'm convinced you misunderstood material within Nolans films, otherwise you would recognize the fact they are superb works of cinema, whose sole acclaim has influenced the genre to the point were a Superhero films can get acknowledgement from the Academy Awards, while also being critically and financially successful.

It may not have been a perfect serious so far, but it's still an enormously big deal.

So, I have a theory:

It involves our two Human members of the team, Hawkeye and Black Widow.

At first this theory concentrated solely on Hawkeye but then I realised this applies to her as well.

They are the only two members of the team we know almost nothing about within this universe, (Don't start bringing up the comic books because I don't care, Marvel's usage of the comic book material has been hugely inconsistent and you know it) and what's added more fuel to this fire burning in the back of my brain is the fact that BOTH of them have actually been villains in the comic books.

I think one of them will betray the initiative, if not both of them.

Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), has been talking about his approach to the character through conversations with Joss in interviews and apparently he's approaching him in a very specific way. He's been playing him as an extremely solitary figure, a lone wolf sniperesque character whose largely cut off from the group not just socially but ****ing physically.

More fuel to the theory is the fact that Loki will apaparently confront each character seperately and attempt to manuipulate them, they've inadvertantly revealed that of course if Loki is going to attempt to trigger a turncoat, as the God of Mischeif, he will succeed with one of them, maybe even two.

If this is the case, that kind of character and plot development is the only reason I'll see the movie.

Thor was decent, Cap' was alright, Iron Man was good but all the Hulk iterations were completely mediocre and let's not even talk about Iron Man 2 as they force fed the idea of the Avengers down our throats.

I literally have no insentive to be really looking forward to this film, other then these kinds of plot developments.

I would love it even more, if a member of the team died. Heck, Joss Whedon is famous for killing off well-loved characters so maybe that'll happen after all.

Kaeb: the eternal optimist.

Honestly that'd be a pretty badass arc for Hawkeye to take, if done well people would actually care about him. Which would be nice, I've always been a Hawkeye fan, and a Green Arrow fan, I'm a bit of a Robin Hood/archery nerd. The only problem I see here is what I've been saying all along, is that Joss most likely doesn't have the total freedom that he would normally have during his other works, constant notes from the studio, shiftless suits hanging around, and stuff like that. Don't get me wrong I'm pretty sure it'll be watchable, but it won't be as good if they'd given 220 million to Joss and said, "**** it, do whatever you want to do."

I'm a fan of Renner as an actor and I love lone wolf superheroes, it makes for some very interesting character driven narratives when the whole world/city/galaxy/town rests upon one persons shoulders.

So I guess you could say I am a Hawkeye fan, despite the fact I know very little about him, I enjoy was this iteration represents.

This has worried me too. But they did give him the original script and he re-wrote the entire thing and has taken up the job of directing it as well, so he has to have SOME influence on the proceedings, and this is the kind of dramatic thing I can see him doing.

Marvel wants to cash in on their superhero properties, they don't care about the characters themselves anymore, they love the idea of seeing them fully CGI to wow auidences with their repetoire of heroes. It's the job of the writers and directors of these films, to filter that desire into a cohesive and enjoyable story.

I think Joss is somewhat capable of that, although his track record isn't as noteworthy as say...Nolan for instance, he's made a lot of mistakes in the past but when he's done something right, it's made entertainment history.

If I'm even half right about this thoery, then maybe faith in Joss will continue to be unwavered and I'll actually be excited to see the film.

I've always enjoyed Renner as well, he's usually pretty great in movies that aren't all that awesome, SWAT for example.

And you're right Joss could pull it off...but then I think about Dollhouse *shudders*

In my head it's honestly 50/50 if this movie will be really good.

So we know they're going to fight a little bit before they band together and overcome their enemy, but that's the most atypical story ever and needs more depth to make a half decent film.

A member of that group actually betraying or possibly even killing one of the others? That's a whole other level of depth entirely. That's what this film needs. Not a Transformers special effects budget and lame ass one liners.

So if Captain America says to Loki,

"You ain't leadin' but two things, right now: Jack and shit... and Jack left town."

And if Iron Man mods some kind of new armour piece and says, "Groovy" when he attaches is...you'll be nonplussed?

I'm not going to see the Avengers for it's in depth story. I'm going to see it to watch Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and the Hulk kick the shit out of bad guys. I'm not expecting Oscar worthy material.

So if Captain America says to Loki,

"You ain't leadin' but two things, right now: Jack and shit... and Jack left town."

Also, lol.

With regards to Hawkeye, I usually pride myself on being able to turn off my hypercritical fat NEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRDDDD sense for these movies, but as someone who has hunted a fair bit with bow and arrow and practiced archery for a bit as a hobby, I have to note that Jeremy Renner has horrible archery form. Rather than get into a long post about it, I shall simply link...

Most archer actors have bad form. It's quite annoying. I never noticed the two arm guards though. That's hilarious.
