Aelah stared outside of her window in awe as they started their voyage, but her face quickly morphed into confusion. It felt like they had stopped just as quickly as they began. She stood from her bed and put her face against the viewport to see what was happening.

"AAH!" Aelah screeched and fell backwards onto her behind. A strange green lifeforms floated past her view startling her. Before she could react any further the captain made his announcement over the ship's comms. The Annfyn's heart began to race as she lost control over her breathing. They had just begun their journey and the hull was getting breached. She couldn't help but think that her mother was right about the space voyage.

Well, Lance can't say that things aren't interesting, but maybe things are a bit too interesting at the onset. Guess it can't be helped. Once the hull was breached, the alien jellyfish creatures would funnel in the opening like flies going through through open door. The good captain was impressed with the security team's response time. Apex and the Mandalorians will be working for the credits the Corps are paying them for sure. Lance would go to a console on the bridge to where he can looking through the cameras and monitor the situation.

Lance heard his Chief Culinary Officer's (@Aberforth) request. It seems reasonable, "I'm inclined to agree" he would reply. "Security" Lance would he then address "Set blasters to stun. Get as many alive as possible, at least one." he ended up announcing. Why stop at one? If security is able, they can perhaps get more than one. Officer Kryze can have one to himself. The scientists can have some as well. This a exploration expedition on a science ship after all. "But neutralize their threat ASAP" He stressed that part. Although having more than alive would be nice, the threat does need to be ended quickly so minimize the damage they would cause. Hopefully the Mandalorians and the Kaleesh security have restraint to set their shots to stun.

The Corps Captain would then respond to the ship's engineer, Ora (@lizziie). "I would let the response team handle this." he said. Ora is a civilian droid expert/engineer whose profile doesn't lend her credence as a fighter, and fighting in an area with hull breach against acid spewing jellyfish is something the captain doesn't want to send send her towards. Better that the able contractors deal with it.

The jellyfish would spray corrosive acid at some of the crates inside the cargo bay, doing damage as they started to dissolve. There were some more coming in, the turret above managed to take out a few more that would have otherwise went inside the hull.

The timely arrival of the security team and any others assisting would catch the attention of the alien creatures. The first would be drop on the ground utterly stunned in the first shot fired by the Ubese (@Olwin). So indeed regular stun rounds work on neutralizing the jellyfish without killing them, or outwardly harming them. One of the Mandalorians (@theaveragejedishadow) would find that their shots would take down his two targets.

In all seventeen jellyfish are able to make it inside the ship, but are now minus three. five of them are now at ground level and are alerted by the explorers and would turn their attention towards them, they would attempt spray acid at the Ubese and skull-faced Mandalorian. The remaining jellyfish were attracted to the sounds of the weapons going off and are heading that way.

Jellyfish
1 stunned
2 dead
14 remaining.

Nakoa followed Arla after grabbing his own gear, coming to the same conclusion. Though she started changing right in front of him, bared skin was common and shameless in Tethysian culture. There was no logical reason to be embarrassed by her actions or treat it any special way. He himself followed suit in stripping down to gear up, scars and tattoos well visible across toned muscle.

Yet Nakoa glanced away after catching a glimpse. He wasn't sure why and chalked it up to the outlander version of politeness rubbing off on him. After suits were on he turned to look at Arla again. "Here," he said before reaching over to help lock the helmet's vacuum seal. His mischievous grin was visible around his eyes through his helmet's visor when Arla asked her question.

"Trouble, with you? Always." Together they'd head down to the breached cargo hold and show up rather in the middle of things. The hostiles were... space jellyfish? Nakoa decided they were called 'Spellies' and rose a hand as several approached the first security personnel in the room and tried launching acid at them (@Olwin @theaveragejedishadow ). The corrosive liquid would slow and stop in midair before being streamed like a mid-air river back out through the hull breach, safely away from the metal ship.

Rath following not far behind Rook would hear the shots from his slug throwers. He would come to the group with his rifle raised. Upon seeing the jellyfish creatures ahead he would fire at the two nearest him. Hitting both in the caps and seeing them drop. He would move to some cover afterward remembering they can spray corrosive acid. After this he would call out to the group gathered. "Is everyone alright? If need be i can cover as you guys pull back and regroup." He would think to himself this trip seems like it is getting off to a rocky start.

Arla was, admittedly, not incredibly well versed with flight suits, so when he helped check the seal on her helmet, she didn't pull away, letting him do what he needed. Hm, maybe this isn't the worst, she thought. She'd caught a glimpse of him without all of his coverings on as well, and it was... well, enough to make her not mind having caught a glimpse.

His almost flirtatious response actually brought a half-smile to her lips behind the helmet.

Sounds like it's our time, then, she said.

The six Kaleesh moved in two trios that operated the same way: two laying down cover fire while the third flanked one of the jellyfish.

Meanwhile, Arla burst into the area as Nakoa moved against the acid spit, and she let an orb of green hover over her hand before releasing a concussion bolt into the body of one of the jellies. Truthfully, on a ship she was wary of releasing too much of her energy, but she was confident that such a small expression of the Shadow was sure to avoid damaging the ship if things didn't go well.

Alberich dropped the first jellyfish with ease. The light form of the alien fell towards the ground giving off a light squishing noise as it did so. It oddly looked like a gelatin mold as it fell, the boneless frame sending ripples through itself as the creature slammed into the cold metal floor. It certainly looked oddly... tasty to be quite honest. If a good cook could cut out the toxin sacks, then that would be a good dinner. He let off a soft puff of atmosphere as he realized this was probably a good thing. This could give the cooks not only a fr1ard for the fight at least.

Turning his head over his shoulder to see the support rushing in, he turned back just to see that a massive blob of acid was less than a foot away. Though it quickly left through the hole in the hull it was still an image burned into his mind for a moment. He saw his whole life pass before his eyes in an instant. He saw his childhood, his family, his friends, his old jobs, his enemies, those he killed or wronged, all of them. His eyes went wide and his mouth was left agape for merely a moment, and when he snapped to his demeanor changed. He was not just fighting to save a ship. Alberich Wotan was here fighting to prove to himself that he could make it. Not as a pirate, or a thug, or a black market mercenary, but as someone who could work well within the law. Now he needed to prove himself to the crew as an invaluable asset.

"Thanks for the assist, now Rook (@theaveragejedishadow) and I won't have all the fun," his raspy and rough voice had almost no emotion, but what could he gathered was he was at least trying to joke around with his crewmates. He leveled his blaster clear at the space jellyfish caps and slowly closed one of his eyes to get a better aim. With one flick of his trigger finger another jellyfish was stunned and brought down, before the barrel moved a few degrees to the side and found a second target to stun. He would then slowly take a few steps backwards to allow the backup to approach. Strength in numbers would be critical here.

The first of the injured were brought into the medbay, and the medical staff of the Pathfinder was put to the test. None of them had gotten the chance to get to know each other, but here they were.

"Put him over there with another minimally injured," he said, sticking a green tag to him to make him one of the people with the least threatening injuries.

"Captain, this is Dr. Quin." (@The Good Doctor ) he said, hitting the comms panel in the medbay. "We could use one of those things as well. We will need to analyze the creature's venom." he said. He had already seen the injuries these creatures were causing. Hopefully, the venom was minor, but they were dealing will unknown creatures, and with that came risk.

The next patient came in; she was struggling to breathe. He stuck a red tag to her. "Get her on some O2 and analyze her vitals," he said as medical staff ushered her away.

Fenn gave a cackle before peaking out to fire once more, nodding to his new companions, he peaked, fireing a few shots before quickly falling back down to avoid the acid strikes. A few more of the beasties fall dead. He yelps when he is barely able, well, visibly.. if he was not putting on an act, he would have delt with them all already.. to fall back into cover.

"Hut'uun! Those things will eat through my armor no doubt!"

He begins to reload his slug throwers once more

"So.. hows y'all's day eh?"

Lance continued to monitor the situation, he was watching carefully, could see jellyfish blood being spilled in the cargo hold. The good captain could have swore he ordered 'stun'. He did see that a lot of the acid that was being spray suddenly stopped in mid air and was redirected into the hull. He also saw Arla fire off some sort of blast. Lance was very intrigued. He was pleased on how he managed to get force users on his expedition.

Then came a request from Chief Medical Officer Dr. Quin (@Raydo). A very reasonable request, that will help the wounded. "That's a great idea. I'll ensure that you get one." There should be enough that are knocked out/stunned that both Dr. Quin and Culinary Officer Kryze will be satisfied while still ensuring that the rest can go to the other scientists. Even the ones that are dead should be of some scientific value if nothing else.

The concussion bolt fired by Arla would land home, slamming into a Spelly (Spellie, Spellifish?) knocking it back and then it would land on the duranium bulkhead incapacitated. Rook managed to take get two of them. Nakoa redirecting the acid to go somewhere else saved the security team and the ship from damage or death.

At this point the Spellies would try to leave the ship, going out where they came in, bu with the Kaleesh warriors having flanked the Spellies and their covering firing preventing them from retreating, they can't. Their numbers thinned, they are now at a more manageable level against the security/response team with just five of them remaining. "Good work. Stun the remainders." the Captain would order.

That's not to say the Spellies would go quietly. Three of the spellies would spray the remainer of their acid on the Mandalorians. The remaining two would attempt to get their hands... or rather tentacles on the Kaleesh flanking them, to grapple them and to poison them.

Since the Spellies are almost dealt with, they will need to get the hull breach sealed asap before they can continue with the journey. Scans seem to show no more signs of space-borne threats around. He would then page for his engineers (@lizziie) "Engineer Ora. The threat is almost contained. I'll need you to assist the other engineers in sealing the hull breech and repair the damage done once security is done handling the threat.." he then stated.

Two of the Spellies moved against the Kaleesh, and while one of it made it to the Kaleesh to grab him before being fired on by the other two. There was screeching of pain from the grabbed warrior, and Arla suspected there wasn't much more that could be done for him for now. She hoped that medical (@Raydo) knew how to treat a Kaleesh.

Arla reached out with the Shadow to grab the other Spelly and pulled down, using her power to slam it into the ground before it could reach the remaining warrior. More stun shots poured from the trio of warriors to put the creature down completely while the nearly-grabbed fighter leapt backwards

As soon as she was content to creature was eliminated, she turned her attention around the room to evaluate for further individuals who may need assistance or protection particularly among any non-combat crew members.

Amber-gold eyes turned toward one of the Mandalorians (@theaveragejedishadow) with a half-hidden look of irritation. "No slugs. Risk spilling acid." He wasn't sure how that wasn't an obvious point and was annoyed that he had to point it out. At that point the only reason he shielded them from the acid spray a second time was to prevent damage to the ship.

But protect them he did, an opaque barrier of blue-green energy flowing into existence like a splash of water to catch the acid before safely enveloping it. The Force was, like chemical glass, non-reactive. Since, y'know, it wasn't a physical object. Once more he guided the stuff out of the hull breach- except for a small amount that he floated back to himself and floated into some non-reactive sample vials from his belt.

Between the two Force users and the coordinated Kaleesh hunter groups, Nakoa thought Apex was already paying for itself quite nicely. Speaking of whom, Nakoa's gaze turned to the fallen Kaleesh, still writhing in pain. His ability to handle most poisons largely relied on it being within his own body, so there wasn't much he could do in the moment. His eyes kept moving until they locked on stack of storage crates.

Without a word, he strode over and reached behind them to grab a cargo tech who'd passed out from lack of air pressure and started moving them to the exit.

"Security to medbay. One injured Kaleesh, tendril contact. One injured cargo tech, pressure loss." Nakoa had memorized the procedures handbook because of boredom and who he was as a person.

Medical personnel were sent into areas after they were secured and brought back the wounded. As they did, Relan continued to triage and help out the more seriously injured.

He had been given a list of species that would be represented on the Pathfinder. He made an effort to study each of the biological make-ups so he could better treat the crew, but the crew was large, and some of the lesser-known species certainly had gaps within his mind.

As the Kaeleesh was brought in, severely envenomated by one or multiple spellies as they were being called on the comms. Relan pulled out a datapad, flipping through the literature on the Kaleesh body before prescribing a simple treatment to keep the venom from spreading. Next, he gave medication to help keep his lungs open for the time being and until they could better assess.

A second patient came in with injuries from pressure loss. "Get him in the pressure chamber," he said, pointing to one of the tubes in the back of the medbay. They would be able to keep stable and slowly adjust the pressure back to normal.

Dismas was on the bridge listened to the Captain giving his orders while his eyes intently scanned the dual screens on his workstation. They had been pulled out of hyperspace before reaching the plotted destination and for a second Dismas feared that the forward-drones they used as reference for their jump had somehow moved. The plotted course seemed perfectly fine, however, and he lifted his eyes up from his screen and outside, "Giant jellyfish," he muttered, "next we'll find out that the space kraken is real, too." Pirate folktales about uncharted space were bad bedtime stories...

Rumors of the Unknown Regions had been in abundance. Infamous pirate legends about treasure-filled ships escaping Republic fleets by disappearing into uncharted space had fancied a young Dismas in particular. Perhaps they'd find a pirate paradise on an uncharted planet somewhere, or, which was perhaps even better, the wreck of an ancient pirate corvette filled with kyber and credits. A man's dreams weren't that different from those of a little boy, after all, and Dismas could see himself return to Mos Eisley with a wealth that would make even the Supreme Mogul blush.

That said, he had signed up for this exploration mission as Dismas Dolan, using his father's last name instead of that of the Zaa Fenn Crime Family. People would be able to recognize the latter, yet be hardpressed to know the real name of the 'Devil of Denon' that also styled himself 'Crow' but hardly ever outright as Crix Dolan. He had navigator his way through Hutt Cartel at a young age, worked with and for pirates in his late teens and figured that a junior astronavigator position on a corporate exploration vessel would be a reasonably easy gig. His job wasn't to fly, but to scan and draw maps, charts and choose fixed reference points to establish hyperlanes for future colony ships.

As the jellyfish numbers were being thinned down, Alberich decided to act his role as an engineer. His blaster went back into his pocket and he searched the hall for anything to patch the hole rapidly draining the compartment of atmosphere. The hull patch he found was escencially a sheet of metal and a can of spray glue. He quickly grabbed the can and the metal and went back towards the hole in the ship. The glue first was applied to the edges of the hole, then the metal was pressed right against the hole and was held there for a few seconds as the adhesive set, then finally the rest of the can was used to fill in the wall where the sheet is layed over then along the lip of the metal. The glue would solidify quickly and would dry an off white to show what was glue and what was the normal hull.

"Hull patch applied," Alberich spoke into the commlink as he was finishing the bandaid fix, his voice as calm and as cool as ever even after such a sudden incident. He knew that there was a blend of backgrounds on this ship, so there were probably other beings like him here. Those who had been on the other side of the law and were unaffected by any sort of violent action. Those who had seen so much and became numb to it. "Estimated time of hold: twelve standard hours. I recommend sending a crew out no later than ten hours from now, the breach is a rather nasty one.

"I also recommend sending a team in full bio-hazard gear just in case,"
Telrand continued, "it seems the toxins are rather potent. Four are confirmed stunned, atleast five more are wasted, and there are five more still conscious. Alberich Wotan, over and out." He moved his hand from his helmet and turned back to the small group of jellies and their kin who were casualties of this failed boarding action. He felt bad for them, as many probably would be either cooked, used in experiments, or saved for either purpose. Maybe one would survive this trip without being harmed, used as the ships mascot or pet. A fate probably worse than many others. Or possibly a better one, as it would be (hopefully) well taken care of and given many comforts. Even if it would even have the level of consciousness to know it had them or not.

Rath would look out of his cover to see the wave of acid coming towards him. The feeling of sadness washing over him as he sees his trip end before it began, or so he thought. Before the acid could make contact it was whooshed away by a wave of energy. He watched as it was moved out of the ship and snapped back into action.

Heading the captains order he would switch his blaster to stun and fire at the three Spellies that tried to melt him. His first two shots hit causing a jolt to ripple through the body of the two Spellies. It looks as if they were having a seizure. As he was finishing with those two the third made its way to grab him. Luckily he had just enough time to fire on the last one. Because of the close call he fires multiple stun rounds into it until it no longer moves.

Rath seemingly out of danger does a quick scan. He notices that everyone else has dealt with their spellies. "Is everyone alive? Seems we maybe clear especially with the patchwork that was done." He switches on his commlink, "Command it seems the area is cleared. I'll do a follow up sweep and report when done." With that he goes about the area sweeping for any other spellies or potential crewmembers.

Fenn finnaly reloads, giving a disappointed sigh

No slugs?.. but those were the most fun! Gods these people didn't know how to mix work and play together, and it showed! He took a defensive position, ready to engage the remaining jellyfish, drawing his side blaster pistol.

Arla (@Phoenix) 's magick and her Kaleesh crew stunned one spelliey, while the Mandalorian manage to knock out three more. The remaining one was downed by the Corps own security team who were able to get good shots now that the more skilled contractors paved the way so-to-speak. With that, the threat of the space-borne aliens has been neutralized, the crew of the Pathfinder should be relieved. No other threats on radar still, that is good.

The Captain would breathe a sigh of relief as hostilities seem to have concluded. It is only of some reprieve. Although the space-born jellyfish are dealt with, people are hurt and the ship has some damage. Luckily the Ubese engineer has been gotten the hull patch applied on the breech, which will further stabilize things. Just need engineers to apply the full array of fixes so the ship will be in optimal shape.

Now then the dust was settled. The Captain would then announce overhead to everyone "Great job everyone. Excellent work." Lance was really impressed with some of the individuals on board. Although some of the Mandalorians are... trigger happy and he's wondering how those slugthrowers have gotten aboard his ship. They will need a talking to about that... But above all else, the Captain is glad that the Corps invested so much unto onboard security. It's definitely paying off. The Pathfinder would surely be much worse for wear otherwise. The praise also went to others as well, Alerich for his initiative, and Dr. Quin having their mettle tested already and the expedition has just started.

Lanced copied Alberich's suggestion on full biohazard gear. With that, he would send for crewmen in the appropriate gear after security would do their sweep. They would retrieve the downed Spellies, putting them in containers and then hauling them off, with the Corp's own security with them just in case. The Chief Culinary Officer Kryze @Aberforth would receive one, fully intact. Dr Quin (@Raydo) as well. Other subjects would then go to the ship's labs so the scientists on board can do as they will with them. Even the ones that have slugthrower shots ridden in them will be of some value.

Not only would the specimens be collected, they would also extract samples, of the acid and of the alien blood. Then it would be a matter of decontamination.

While this was going on, the wounded would be helped over to the med bay, security would be able to rest now otherwise. Now was time to finish fixing the hull breech. The bandaid fix was simply that, it won't hold for long. It needs a full fix considering how nasty it was "Engineer Ora @lizziie. You and your team ready?" the Captain asked. The sooner it's done, the sooner they can get out of the system safely.

On the bridge, Lance would look over to his astro-navigator Dismas @Eccles. "Are we able plot our next course? Any alternate routes you suggest?" he asked. The Captain is hesitant about going further east like originally intended because they were forcibly pulled out of hyperspace. And Priam does not wish to remain in here longer than he has to because there could be more of those space jellyfish things.

The last of the spellies went down and Arla whipped around where she stood, furiously looking for any sign of remaining enemies only to find none.

All clear. Need to check in with the bridge to find out what's going on. And if we'll be coming across more of them, she thought to herself, squeezing her hand together at her side in an attempt to knock the shakes out of it as the adrenaline finished its course.

One of the Kaleesh had already returned to the medbay, and she made a mental note that she needed to check on him as well.

For that matter, what pulled us out of hyperspace? she wondered. Her eyes flicked over to the Ubese patching up the hull. Looks like he has that covered. Time to check on my business, she thought to herself before glancing over to Nakoa.

You should check on our injured. I'll check in with the bridge, she said, knowing that Nakoa was more than capable of looking after their wounded man and could let her know if her attention was needed down there as well, though she doubted it.

Instead, she headed to the bridge. As the head of Apex, it was her job to represent a large portion of security on the ship and plan for anything like this in the future.

Should we be preparing for more hostile contact with these creatures? she asked. Thus far none of the security team knew where they had actually come from or how many more there might be. Or if there were any more on the ship's scopes.

Emerging from the protective shadow of his galley, Thalis Kryze gingerly ventured forth, shedding the cowl of caution. The lingering adrenaline punctuated the ship's ether like the electric afterglow of a tempest, but the tempest itself had abated. The palpable unease had dissolved, leaving the familiar metallic odour of the ship mingling with the acrid aftertaste of the combat’s residue. It was, indeed, an unprecedented beginning to their journey.

Thalis' eyes rested on the subdued form of the alien jellyfish creature, a gift bestowed by Captain Lance. With a calculated curiosity, he observed the serpentine undulations of its tentacles, the viscous, luminescent fluid that trailed in their wake. The creature was a cocktail of the bizarre and the foreign; an enigma with its slimy carapace and crystalline eyes, enough to pique his culinary curiosity. He wondered how best to translate its alien physiology into a palatable masterpiece, his mind already teeming with the possibilities: an exotic bouillabaisse, perhaps, or a spicy, seared tentacle dish? Or maybe the creature's gelatinous body could be fashioned into a delicacy reminiscent of the renowned Felucian Gello?

Distracted by these tantalizing thoughts, he promptly summoned his diligent culinary droid. The machine, with its gleaming silver chassis and dexterous appendages, whirred into action at Thalis' beckoning. "Boil water to ninety degrees in the large vat," Thalis instructed in his mellifluous tones. "Prepare the slicer droids, and have them sanitize the carving boards." His orders ricocheted in the spacious galley, his voice a harmonious serenade in the mechanical symphony of his kitchen.

Once his orders were set in motion, Thalis sought to ensure that this victory, their first monumental triumph over adversity in the wild expanse of the Unknown Regions, would not go unsung. He reached out to the communication panel, his fingertips dancing across the smooth surface as he keyed in a message. "Captain Lance," he relayed, imbuing his voice with a note of exuberance, "I plan to prepare a feast to honor our first victory, a testament to our resilience and unity. Prepare your taste buds for a gourmet experience of an extraterrestrial kind."

His message dispatched, Thalis turned back to his kitchen, a determined set to his jaw and a twinkle of adventure in his eyes. His journey into the cosmos had just begun, and he was ready to transcend the gastronomic norms, to turn the bizarre and the foreign into the savored and the familiar. One space jellyfish at a time.

Upon hearing the Captain ask for a new -safer- course, Dismas quickly shifted his eyes away from the window and to his holo-map of the region he had managed to chart. Then his eyes went to the screen with the sensor output to estimate the direction and size of the migrating group of giant jellyfish. "Captain," the young astronavigator sat upright at his station and looked at Captain Lance Priam, "There's a unidentified object at nine parsecs on course two-nine-five," he pressed a button to have the plotted course and the location of the unidentified object send to the Captain's own station for review, "Should take us far enough away from the jellyfish."

The sensors didn't pick up on any activity from the unidentified object, so Dismas assumed it wouldn't be reactor-powered or made of organic life. As far as he could ascertain it was a much better option that the inside of a migrating group of giant corrosive jellyfish.

With any luck it was simply a dormant slow-moving asteroid, or an ancient wreck of some sort. The security personnel could then explore it using spacesuits while the engineering team could properly patch up the ship's hull from both the in- and the outside. Whatever it was, hopefully it didn't get in the way of the gourmet experience the chef had just announced.
