Interesting. I look forward to seeing the Sith FL.
Sith have always assumed that everyone who was not a Sith is weaker than them, especially non-FS people! It's the natural mindset of the Sith. They use the normal people because they need to, they don't look at them as anything more than tools for a greater purpose. That's why I find the idea of a non-FS faction leader to be really, really crazy. Sith are conquerors. They are power hungry. They need to rule. They need to dominate. They need to show that they are the absolute.

But as Brandon said, "Considering what the Sith are actually like and how they led their empire to ruin...a Sith is actually the worst person to be leading this entire society." This is the problem of the Sith. They can never hold power without destroying themselves. But the thing is that they don't want anyone else to hold power over them in any way.
You seem to be conflating OOC and IC.
I seem to recall Andraste, Dark Lady of the Sith and Empress, not being FL.
"Supreme Leader" is a title. But "Dark Lord of the Sith" is also a title. If a non-FS FL is in power, it could be that they appear to be merely a puppet of the Dark Lord, proclaiming decrees and the like. To the Sith, they see the Dark Lord as being the power behind the throne. To the denizes of the Sith territories, as well as the Republic, they see a legitimate, maybe-its-not-a-Sith government, because Supreme Leader is the face of it. There doesn't need to be any deeper explanation of the relationship between the two - it's simply vague and left at that. People believe what makes them happy. The OOC reality is that the Dark Lord is the AFL, and the Supreme Leader is the FL.

@Saul "Supreme Leader" makes me think of Snoke and to my mind that replaces "Dark Lord of the Sith." Now if there is a Dark Lord that will help to ease my mind, but I still see plenty of power grabs in the future.

They're Sith. There are always going to be power grabs, regardless of who is in charge. Whether or not that leader is FS or not doesn't change that in the slightest. I don't know why knowing there's a Dark Lord would put your mind at ease or why it wasn't already, especially when what you stated in your last comment confirmed that you understand Sith are always going to destroy themselves. I honestly don't see why so many people see the idea of a non-FS leader of the Sith as such a bad thing. It baffles me.

Well, it does make naming a bit more difficult. It wouldn't be the "New Sith Imperium" or something like that if it isn't all about the Sith. The society may have been founded by the Sith, but it would function more as the Galactic Republic is in relation to the Jedi. One thing I would suggest the moderators consider is that if they choose to do that they have to restructure slightly how they've set up the collective imperial faction in the new timeline slightly to accommodate for less emphasis on force users. I mean, the Capital is the Sith home world which is overrun force users and completely governed by the Sith warriors and cultists.

From my point of view the SBZ are Sith in all-but-name. Both the Lords of the Sith (which might be a confusing title for the sub-faction, but that is only my humble opinion) and the Sacred Bands of Ziost are roughly on equal footing in the Sith Order, all that remains of the Sith Empire. They follow the general creed of the Sith, if not exactly the code of the Force-Users sect. They have even passed the trails of the same level and each has proven that they were capable to fighting on "even" terms with those that use the force. Of course, this only goes for the Elite, in other words, the Sith Lords and the Sacred Band of Ziost. The major part of the populance, even the military is probably nothing but cannon-fodder compared to either on a political scale. The Sith Lords probably have the advantage of seniority as organization, while also suffering from more in-fighting than the Sacred Band. Therefore a Supreme Leader coming from the SBZ might well rely on the back-up of his comrades against the threats of singular Sith Lord, while a Sith Lord of course has the Force and his own combat prowress to hold him in the position, for example.

This is just my view of the "Sith" situation as a player, it mgiht be wrong according to timeline lore, your opinion might be different. Of course, the opinion of many characters - including mine -, especially those with a notch for arrogance might differ a lot from the above.

Dropping this here.

BA hates Senate cause they don't care 'bout us.

BA leaves Republic cause they don't care 'bout us.

Good story or nah?

Whilst that is a basic version of what could be an interesting story, I must agree it would be intersting to see. However - the BA cannot just 'get up and go' from the Republic, so the process of acting that departure/senate reform out could be very interesting.

I for one think the Colonies should remember their place.

Can Jedi council members be present in roleplays? If so, can they be killed and replaced?

Mars and myself were both Sith Lords as well.

I went from a lowly Jedi Knight to acolyte/trainee in the Imperial Knights only to backstab both as a Sith plan from a previous endeavor that neother knew about. Ended up killing the Imperial Knight Faction Leader, 2 or 3 Jedi council members and a few other Jedi along with blowing up the Jedi Temple on Corsucant. Got me a nifty title and a handful of pissed off members PMing me, haha.

We're focusing the Jedi faction on the Jedi army, so the Jedi Council is a far away/unusable NPC body at this point.

With all this talk about faction leaders, I am honestly more curious about what kind of influence the independent factions will have on the primary ones and the galaxy at large. Perhaps a faction could become so powerful that they would rival all the others? Definitely an interesting mechanic I'd like to see. I don't know if that ever happened before in the previous timeline, especially since (as far as I know) indie factions couldn't control their own space.

The odds of an indie faction ever becoming that large as astronomically small, just considering how big main factions are. Indie factions that want to be major players should strive not to rival mains in size, but find ways to be influential that they can tip the balance of the conflict, be essential in the conflict, etc.

I think where an SBZ could play a monster role for the Sith as a FL or even a high up is that they can hide in plain sight unlike a pure darkside Force user.

Something I had considered was this, especially with the bulk of the SBZ as a force, they can certainly get into and do things Sith can't. A lot of people have been stating that the ruler of the Sith will be someone who is going to be remaining quite cut off from the rest of the Sith. Understandable because any thread you enter, one of your own faction could kill you and take your place.

Does anyone else see something like that happening? Or has the leader of the Sith in previous timelines played a more active combat role.

In my opinion it would be of a great leader to also be in battle with his soldiers leading from the front. But as you stated it would be difficult in the sith since someone is ALWAYS trying to take your place. Id like to see a very powerful supreme leader who not only could rule with his immense power but also by just his words. Not having to show off all the time and flex his power just to control a situation. Idk call me crazy but thats how i feel

In all honesty, that's how it should be, regardless if the Supreme Leader is Sith or SBZ. Even if the SL is a Sith they should still be threatened by powerplays.

Apparantly people are more concerned with stable RP than power here considering how little I hear about power plays in the Sith order last timeline (except for one or two that I have to admit sound like they were pretty epic and entertaining to witness.) That threat should always be there, but with maintaining the stability of the faction it is better to have fewer upheavals than wanted than to many. Imagine a scenario where one person defeats the FL, then fifteen other people leap a the chance to kill that person, which would spill over into trying to kill each other, which would lead to utter chaos. (Would be awesome to watch but horrifying to be involved in)

Dont get me wrong. I prefer to have a mix of both great leadership skills but also want someone fighting amongst and alongside his soldoers leading from the front. And this new time line IS one of the downfalls of the sith so it would also help the storyline if by chance it DID happen.

I think something players need to understand about Faction Lead is that your character should be secondary to your faction. If youre a Sith Leader and lead the group well you'll be better remembered in the story and site than someone who is not.

I would no doubt love to RP a battle and at some point sacrifice my character to save a group at the expense of a great story and have done it. In the first Timeline the Sith sacked Coruscant and the Assistant FL and the FL were pursuing 2 council members and a Padawan that was a very good RPer, and had a talented character that no doubt would have lost a fight with the two. I had been working on my Jedi for almost a year and stopped the retreat to let them move forward to the hangar to escape and got slaughtered by the 2. After it was said and done both Sith were upset that I bought enough time for some titular characters to escape and the players of the Jedi were able to get off planet and restart a Jedi Temple offworld.

That being said don't shy away from playing your character, but be aware of what youre stepping into as well as preparing your character. A Force User in particular needs to rely on their senses, foresight, and lightsaber/Force abilities to guide them. This timeline will allow us to utilize Force Ghosts to my knowledge which brings a cool aspect to the RP Ive always felt it missed.

You also have to note that Sith arent going to coupe against you all at once as that will cause disaster. Some will be and should be fiercely loyal to their leader and willing to die for the Sith cause as his word is law and if they don't believe they can defeat him they're weak for turning their back on him. If you just attack arguably the most powerful character in the galaxy expect consequences if and when you fail. Striking him in the back while youre in battle may get you the FL position but you'll make enemies as well. Now if hes hurt and you take the opportunity to cut him or her down then thats the true Sith way as they're showing weakness.

I dont think it will be a brood of sneak attacks, but it should be plotted and thought about by the stronger Sith members. It's a progression of power remember. Just because you get the mantle doesnt mean you suddenly get all of theirs.

Cant argue with that. This era like i had stated IS the fall of the sith so by this happening if it does. It could help cause the downfall simply by everyone wanting to be the top.
