If Mandalorians aren't mentioned in the canon at all - I don't think they have been yet, right? - and the next timeline is supposed to be very canon-focused, odds are there won't be any Mandalorians. I love the Mandalorians (the KotOR ones, anyway, but apparently that kind of Mando has been sullied by later Mandos in the EU?) but look on the bright side. If there are no Mandalorians then you get to try out something new and expand your horizons, and who knows, you might just like it.

The Mandalorian Pacifists and Death Watch are. And their warrior culture going into the past is confirmed.

Besides, I'm making a faction where there are Mandalorians, Cyber Monks, and Gangsters. So there will indeed be branching out ;)

Mandalorians are a significant part of the canonical story of the Clone Wars, as well as the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

And are awesome when players portraying them get along.

I didn't follow the Clone Wars storyline very much, so I didn't really know. So with that knowledge, there's no reason to be afraid of mandalorians not being present in the next timeline

There were Mandalorians in the Clone Wars cartoon, irrc, which is canon.
As someone who plays a Mandalorian exclusively, I think this is kind of unfair. Its entirely possible to play a Mandalorian without acting like a twat.

Entirely possible yes, but the odds in this case are not in your favor.

-Shrug- I just don't think it's fair to want an entire culture wiped from the timeline because some of its members where pricks.
It doesn't really have anything to do with the players as much as it does with my disinterest in the Mandalorians themselves. Their quasi-Spartan culture was never interesting and they're relatively bland in most regards. Not to mention the prototypical 2kool4skool attitude that's typified by the various Mandalorian characters portrayed in SW media and in some (definitely not all, this is nothing personal towards you in the slightest) of the players that portray them in RP settings is most often completely boorish and at the very least eye-roll inducing.

Mhm. I do actually agree with quite a bit of that. That's why I'm more drawn to the Karen Travis version of an accepting fairly rural culture focused around family and inner honor and considering combat a personal test of the person. It has possibilities, but I'd say that as well as the original version have their problems. I do believe it can be made into a very interesting culture when played right. But it often isn't played right.

Let's all be real, Mandalorians are Klingons for Star Wars.

First of all, there's a big difference between someone that plays/RPs Mandalorians, and a Fandalorian. Fandalorians often play exclusively Mandalorians (often, not saying that all who do so are Fandalorians, or that all Fandalorians do so) and are far more interested in using the Mandalorian backdrop for playing a superpowered and self-righteous bastard than actually playing a character that just happens to be Mandalorian. SWRP has been plagued with Fandalorians this timeline, and one of the main reasons that the Mandalorian Main Faction was disbanded, and what drove the events to the firebombing of the Mandalore sector in this timeline.

That said, however, there's no reason to pour hate and ill wishes on everyone that plays a Mandalorian character. That'd be like doing exactly the same with Jedi or Sith, because there are just as many, if not more, bad apples in both camps. They just don't shout as loudly as Fandalorians do.

Now, as for Mandalorians being 'quasi-Spartans', I've never found the Mandalorians to be anything like Spartans at all. And as for their culture, well, when the new timeline hits, 99% of it will be oblitterated. All we'll have to go on is what's been shown in The Clone Wars, which is very little. And that in turn means we can create our own, which I, Silverface (and most probably Vencu), most certainly shall.

Also, here's my submission for the new Mando'a.

Also, how did this thread somehow get side-tracked so badly, like so many others, that we started discussing the Mandos for, like, the 1,018th-time?

Someone get me a BrandonRheaStayOnTopic.gif

Indeed. Let's not worry about an issue that hasn't even happened yet or may even happen, let alone hasn't been that big of an issue as of late.

Would anyone be opposed to me making a Czerka faction in the new timeline lead by a guy based of that guy from Madmen who is married to Annie from community? Sorry I don't watch the show much.

Clone Wars cartoon is officially full canon and Mando's are mentioned extensively. Star Wars Rebels is also canon and one of the main characters is a Mando.

They're as canon as you can get.
