Biography
Hailing from a family of traders and merchants, Kal's Force sensitivity was discovered early on and he was accepted into the Jedi Order when he was only five years old. Growing up he proved himself to be a bright, intelligent child, always near the top of his class, and was among the first within his class to consciously use and control the Force. He excelled in almost all aspect of his training, and obviously it went to his head. He learned everything his masters tried teaching him, other than humility. Not only did he think his skill and strength in the Force made him better than those who couldn't keep up with him, instead of helping them he looked down on them and saw them as a burden who would stop him from being the best Jedi in the Galaxy.
Kal was fourteen when, along with a number of his peers, he was knighted and sent into the Galaxy to serve the Force. While a number of his friends and peers were injured, or killed, Kal grew from strength to strength and made a name for himself. While he felt for his fallen comrades, his eyes were very much aimed forwards and upwards. His actions earned him attention, and he loved it. All that really mattered to him was the next mission, the next success, and the next round of adoration and applause.
Years later, when the Sith revealed themselves Kal saw it as another opportunity for him to show his worth, another challenge for him to overcome. Participating in a raid on a potential Sith outpost, Kal was able to convince one of the Sith acolytes to lay down his arms and surrender. While Kal harbored hopes of redemption, realizing being the first Jedi to redeem a Sith since the time of the Skywalkers would do wonders for his reputation, the acolyte himself had others plans. Kal would later learn that his victory was nothing but a trap by the acolyte's master to capture a Jedi and torture them for information. Kal's ship was shot down by a Sith squadron and Kal was taken to an outer rim world where he was tortured for days. By the time a Jedi strike force managed to rescue him, he was physically and mentally broken. It took months for him to recover from the physical hardships he had been put through, but he was far from ready to recover from the mental trauma.
What had initially seemed like a mental block that was preventing him from tapping onto the Force like he once had, started seeming like a permanent part of him. The Sith had done something to him that had left him incapable of drawing upon the Force with any sort of strength, all but the simplest of tasks eluding him. In an ironic turn of events he had become the weak, "worthless" Jedi he had once fun off.
Realizing that he needed to rediscover his place in the Jedi Order, Kal took on a Barash vow and left for Corellia. Over the course of the next year he realized that he could still help the Jedi and with recommendations from CorSec officers he had worked with in the past, was able to join the CorSec academy. His plan was to serve the Jedi shadows by working as a detective and gathering information on the exile activity. Over the course of the next six years he graduated from the academy with flying colors and started rising up the ranks of the CorSec. Now, as a rookie detective, he is making an honest living for himself while trying to help the Jedi in his own little ways.
Personality & Traits
Dax is a free-spirited, strong-willed person with a happy-go-lucky approach to life. He is headstrong, cocky, stubborn and can be reckless and brash at times. He is a fun loving person who lives for the moment, doing things only because he believes it is the right thing to do and not because someone or something forces him to do so. Possessing a knack for getting things done by using unorthodox means, he has the ability to think outside the box and can often come up with solutions where those walking the beaten track would have faced failure. The relative freedom from external interference that living in isolation on Tatooine provided him resulted in him developing a disregard for rules, trusting his own gut and beliefs over anything else. He also bears a strong hatred for the Tuken Raiders for killing his parents.
Powers & Abilities
Weapons Proficiency — Like all Mandalorians he was trained to use weapons such as hold-out blasters and vibroblades, along with more exotic ones such as swords, knives and spears. But what he is most skilled at is close quarters combat with a blade in his hand. Preferring his slightly unorthodox looking mandalorian sword to vibroblades, Dax is deadly with the blade, but also competent with a spear.
Physical Abilities — Dax is in peak physical condition, possessing the speed, strength, and dexterity that comes with years of training. He is very nimble on his feet, possesses very quick reflexes, and years of training have made him exceedingly flexible, graceful in his movements and capable of pulling off feats of acrobatics that can only come with years of practice. He is a practitioner of the movement disciple known as parkour. One of the most important aspects of his training was close-quarters combat, trained in a number of different martial arts, including the Echani arts from his parents.
Technological Aptitude — Growing up fixing things on Tatooine, Dax is a capable mechanic, and good with computers. He was able to fix his father's shuttle and limp it all the way to Concord Dawn from Tatooine, forced to continually patch up one thing after another that broke down in the ship. He is also good with computers, and a decent slicer.
Force Abilities — While rediculared by most in the Sith Academy because of his exceedingly weak connection to the Force, over time Flynn has come to consider his weakened connection to be his greatest gift. Instead of treating the Force as a tool to allow him to perform pointless acrobatics or run faster, or use it in randomly destructive ways as most Sith are wont to, he learnt to use the Force as a guide. By not attempting to enforce his own will on the Force he has opened himself to better listen to the will of the Force, relying on a more subtle approach which has served him well.
Force Sense — Probably his most refined skill, Flynn has a very keep sense of awareness with the Force. He is very skilled at sensing others around him, particularly other Force users. He is also able to sense when he is being lied to, a talent that proved to be very handy in his line of work with CorSec. His skills with a blaster are also greatly enhanced by his ability to not only see but feel where he needs to shoot.
Danger Sense — Incapable of the more flamboyant applications of the Force, such as Force enhanced acrobatics or waves of telekinetic destruction, Flynn was forced develop a more refined connection to the Force to survive his tenure at the Sith Academy. As per his own understanding, closing off all the loud noises allows him to better hear the whispers of the Force. These whispers have kept him alive him on more than one occasion, giving him warnings about impending danger. This "luck", as his fellow officers at CorSec called it, is probably the single greatest gift at his disposal. (Purely for story purposes, not to be used in PvP or without approval from RP partners.)
Mind Trick — Another skill that has benefited from his unorthodox outlook on the Force is his ability to influence others. The finer control he has over the Force has made it easier for him to influence others. Though he initially struggled with the morals of using the Force to influence someone's thoughts, by being selective about when he uses these powers he has made his peace with this aspect of his abilities. Flynn mostly uses these powers to calm people in the aftermath of traumatic experiences, or to prevent people from panicking in dangerous situations. While he sometimes also used these powers to draw a confession out of a guilty party, over the years he has backed away from such uses of the Force.
