I've got a question about the BA: I want to write a character that's kinda gruff, former military, etc. For his backstory, I want to have him having been a higher up, Admiral, in the BA, and get disgusted with the system / the BA and leave and that launches his character. I would write it as just backstory, but since this is the beginning of the timeline, I was wondering if I'd be able to start with a high ranking position in the BA only to resign from it rather quickly after the timeline starts, within the first few weeks. If not then I'll just write it as backstory.

I'll break the rules only to let you know that doesn't make sense with what the think tank seems to be cooking for the Border Alliance.

What I would suggest, so that you don't have to wait on those slow old fogies, is that you just have him be an Admiral or a Commander in a local planetary defense navy.

I'm currently flipflopping two character ideas for the BA, since only one can be in it afterall. Either an ancestor of my Legacies timeline Stormtrooper character, or shoving a Mandalorian in. Either way, it'll be a "soldier type" character in some fashion. It really boils down to when I have the time to write some character profiles.

I am planning on one character that is going to be a Senator of a BA planet and I am planning on another character to be my first characters grandson and a BA Army field commander (whatever the final nomenclature may be).

My character is a nineteen-year old trooper who I plan to raise through the ranks (and age) as well as becoming a Mandalorian at some point. With this timeline's Davik Lorso I reached the end of his (planned) character development in four months, so with this dude I hope to be needing at least a year. :')

Just to clarify: while a part of the faction; as in "independent merc under contract" is just his fluff? Or as an actual independent?

He's an actual independent.

Personally, I'd not like to see the lines blurr. However, it could be a member intitiative to cooperate with indies to fight the Band of Ziost/Sith/other indies. That way you won't be an official member, but do have a lot of interaction with members (on BA planets).

It's whatever the TT decides, but that might be a good alternative?

The Chis did this early in the last timeline- the Battle of Berchest. It was a Chiss v Mando battle, but instead of Chiss characers, they decided to "hire" some indie mercenaries to hide their involvement. It was an interesting idea.

What the BA FL might could do is, with the Manaan Rules, allow for one of the battles of the three or however many there are be open to BA allied characters.

Mandos did something similar when they set up the Core Blitz that allowed them to destroy the Galactic Alliance, hiring an Indie criminal faction take down the GA's sensor buoys to allow the Mandalorian fleet to jump into the heartland of the Alliance and the Core without setting off any alarms.

So it's something that has precedence on the site.

So @Commissar Brett to answer the question on how I think it'll be: you can fully RP with us, but I doubt you'll get to be on the official roster. It wouldn't quite support the idea behind the character/faction limit if you can jump from faction to faction (because of contracts) as a mercenary.

That said, I'd be happy to include you in my roleplays with Cavalas Wren. Diversity in the Border Alliance is one of the most interesting aspects.
