No worries. Until that is approved and the republic would approve hiring you, you'll have to be in the faction to fight with the BA.

Wait, @TAC why wouldn't it be possible for RP purposes that an indie is hired by an individual world in the Border Alliance? The Republic not believing the Sith returned is making it rather unlikely they'd hire an indie faction to support the border they think isn't in any danger.

The concern is that in the future individuals might abuse that to circumvent the three characters/one faction rule.

Additionally, because of the set-up of the BA, it wouldnt make sense - TBA by admins and think tank (hopefully soon!).

I feel like this is the important part. Right now it's probably a bad idea to plan on having an indy character fighting for the BA, as that's still an unknown.

Right, I was more going for the seemingly illogical fact that the Republic (senate) would have to hire mercenaries to support the Border Alliance, while the BA on itself is so far presented as a loose military affiliation that would be perfectly within its own rules to have individual member planets (and their respectable governments) hire those mercenaries on its own. As I stated a few posts ago I completely understand that with the current character limitation we can't have indies switch factions every two months for "mercenary contract reasons", but at the same time the IC-justification for not allowing it shouldn't come from the Republic in Chandrila.

If that's what the TT decides, that's fine, but I felt obligated to respond and share my view.

So, for the next timeline, I intend to roll an infantry oriented military type character fighting with the Border Alliance. For my first thread, I decided it would make most sense to write the story of how my character ended up with the alliance in the first place.

Would anyone interested in joining up with the BA be interested in writing this out with me?

I'm curious BA members. His would your character view FS characters? I mean you are fighting the Sith, FSs who keep killing you. So how would you view FS characters?

Hate, distrust, dislike, friendly, love, want to shoot in the knee cap?

Personally I think it'd be a bit hard to generalize Force-users as being only bad as I've already seen a couple of potential ex-jedi fighting for the BA. It will also depend on whether or not the Jedi faction would support the BA. Force-users have more potential to be either very useful or very detrimental, so I'd rather harness the power than shun them.

For my character there will certainly be a mixture of admiration and a natural fear of meeting one on the battlefield. Facing one voluntarily would be an ultimate test of courage

Force-sensitives (FS) would not be a problem if they're not also Force-users (FU)... I'm very conscious about this difference as with the character limit I think we might see more FS-characters that along the line might be trained to become FU-characters.

I planning on making a starship captain and was looking to see if anyone would be interested in taking the role of the numerous deck heads, Engineering, Gunnery, Medical, etc. Now from what I've been reading player-to-player space battles haven't worked so well in the past so mine was mainly going to revolve around pirate hunting, border patrols and blockade running. Think player-verses-environment. Most of the interaction would be on the ship, going about our day-to-day, conversing at mess and during recreation times.

Other player interaction (outside of our own crew) can be done during missions, furlough/shore leave, resupplying and repair, or with player approval non-NPC naval action.

Now I'm pretty new here but not to RPing, I've been RPing on other forums for the last six years so I'm somewhat competent. I'm very open to ideas and would be excited to see how this goes.

If you're planning on RPing with the BA, post here! Feel free to share your character idea or write-up. It's more helpful to look at each other's characters than speculate on what the structure or relationships will be for the BA - the think tank is in heavy discussion about it, and when it's ready, the admin will release it.
