And that's saying something.

I mean, come on. I cannot comprehend how the molecular structure of a plant could possibly stand up to a blade of pure plasma. If anyone wants to explain it to me, please do. But following the idea of the 'Norris root' then you could've just gathered this plant and spraypainted the door to Freedon Nad's tomb. Nevermind Beskar, too hard, let's just spraypaint the door with 'no Jeedais allowed!'

just another example where something used as a thrown out " fix all" for a game mechanic or to solve something in a comic or book gets sucked in, and people never look at it from that context- force powers and artifacts and such are he same way too -.- *sigh

You overestimate it. It diminishes the damage dealt, but it's not like it's an end all "no damage" or anything. If you shoot someone bathed in norris root dye, they're still gonna die. You just combine it with other things to give it a boost.

No limits fallacy. Energy is energy. And so forth.

Mind you, the nerd in me wonders if this wasn't discovered/utilized by farming worlds which were too poor to buy and sustain planetary shields. A network of Norris roots in a fallow field would be interesting insurance against an errant turbolaser blast during a siege or whatever.

I don't know what hurts me more. The fact that I also thought about that, or the fact that we reached the same conclusion. The only difference being that I wondered if they started to grow this stuff in little pots and put it on top of their houses.

BTW, Adena/Boli/AnyoneWhoWouldKnow:

Is Quantum Crystalline Armor disallowed on here?

Oh, and just so people know:

Turadium was an alloy. The blast doors of the New Jedi Temple's Operations Hangar were forged of turadium, as were the detention center's interior doors. Turadium was very difficult to cut through, even with a lightsaber.

We could use that^^^, but cut into a weave maybe? It'd still probably be really heavy though.

The only example of quantum-crystalline being used in armor comes from a starship, and a superweapon at that - (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sun_Crusher)...and that series goes on to outline that the cost for the armor alone is beyond ridiculous - as in, something along the lines of if-we-sold-this-we-could-get-the-New-Republic-out-of-debt ridiculous.

Factor in how impervious to damage it was - for example it wasn't even slightly harmed after being temporarily disposed of in the depths of Yavin's atmosphere, and shrugged off blaster fire from (iirc) turret emplacements at the Carida Imperial Academy unharmed, and...yeah, it's not allowed.

And a supernova....and ramming through a Star Destroyer's bridge unscathed.....and taking full bombardments FROM Star Destroyers.....

Ok, just making sure.

As a side note, it was also used in the rebuilding of Vortex's Cathedral of Winds, so I don't think it'd be too expensive, but still broken as hell so yeah....that's sooooo banned.
