"Lorcan we got inbound - fighters coming up from below!"
Such a weird concept to have when in space 'below' was. He knew that it was relative to the bombers and himself and he understood what the guy on sensors meant but still - bit weird that they were using such terms. It was probably the naval pricks trying to account for the fact that he was a former Ranger and they thought he didn't know what anything ship related actually meant.
Arseholes.
And their enemies were... droids.
Droid starfighters to be precise.
"Tell the fleet to bring up a squadron or two of those new X-wings they got - gotta show the imps why it's a shite idea to use ships that are over a hundred years old. Seriously."
He re-orientated his ship to point down, aiming at the droids as they began their approach. Priming a torpedo, he nodded to his co-pilot. The man understood and sent out a message to friendlies.
"All friendlies open fire to keep the droids on their predicted path."
Pulling the trigger, he opened fire on the droids with his laser cannons at the same time as launching the torpedo. The torpedo wasn't guided at any one droid fighter in particular because it couldn't be - the turret waited until the torpedo was set to fly just 'over' the synchronized swimming of the droids before blasting it. His own turret shot his torpedo, donating it just above the droids as they were flying over and through each other.
The torpedoes of his ship were designed to do massive damage to un-shielded capital ships and the explosion would prove it, detonating well within range of the fighters as they danced around. Vulture droids were, also, unshielded as well and with them all bunched up like that?
"Fish in a barrel. Light em up!"
With the explosion having caused casualties and disrupted their planned flight path, he would lay on fire at the leader with all of his armaments, his heavy laser cannon, his medium ion cannon and his turret gunner as well. Did they think flying over each other was clever? Just meant explosions hit more than one of them really.
"Squadron of T-70 X-wings inbound - eta thirty seconds!"
Good.
