'My Children, the time has come...'

The children of Father Time stood before him, the Master of Eternity, and the father of the universe, whose very thought gave birth to new creations. Behind him, the emerald, crystal, gold and sapphire sphere that was Earth hung amongst the void, a bare canvas which Father Time bestowed upon his children.

"For too long have I allowed you to consider this. Now is the time in which you must come forth and speak to me of what it is you will do with my greatest gift to you. Speak, and be blessed!"

And so the first of these Children came forth. Long had the God Elendur known in his heart what it was he had wanted, but he had been loth to speak of such a thing. Now was his chance. And so, before any had even thought of stepping forth, Elendur knelt before his father, and spoke:

"Oh, great father, I have known in my heart of hearts what it is I have wanted for many an eon, and this gift is the greatest gift you could ever have given me. For it is of my heart to create much in the ways of creatures and beings that are of their own mind, and not connected to the toils of the earth in any way, but are no less important to it. It is of my mind to create and watch things that grow and are beautiful, and to give birth to many a beast that are not tied to me in any way, but are tied to the Earth herself, and think not of war, but of survival, and of living. That in their very existance, their very creation of offspring, is their purpose in their lives, free of ambition, free of conspiracy, free of the emotions that we as Gods will doubtless give to our own children."

And Father Time smiled, for he had known that Elendur had wished this a long time, and so he spoke with great merriment in his voice:

'So be it, son Elendur. You will go forth to the lands below, and make things that are green and good. And you will make the beasts and animals of this land, and so this barren Earth will become plentiful and beautiful. But be warned, son, for the touch of nature will wither before the touch of man, and it may come to pass that all you create may wither and die. Beware of attachments to your creations of nature, for they will be like grains of sand in a desert to your lifespan.

"However, my gift to you is this - the divine spark. Using this, you may create your own peoples to teach or thwart the people of Men that exist already upon this Earth, and to do great deeds with nature. Now, go forth, and let the first Spring of Earth come into existance!'

And So Elendur was sent forth from the Dreamscape, and his ethereal and divine feet touched the bare soil of the dead Earth, and his very touch caused the rough and dry grasses to turn green and fertile, and the earth became a green and beautiful place. Before the God's eyes, great miracles occured he had not given thought of, but his father had given thought to while Elendur had spoken, and thus the Earth was even more beautiful than Elendur's imagination. Beasts great and small came into existance, from the horned forest creature Elendur held dear, and so called 'Deer', to the wonderful hunting predators, which Elendur loved greatly, and so called 'Wolf'.

But the Earth was still barren, as Elendur was still alone, and wary of his Father's words, and so he began to contemplate what to do to make his loneliness more bearable. And so he sat on the ground, and the grass, leaves and vines wrapped themselves lovingly around him. And so, in the beginning, Elendur's first form was that of Nature incarnate, wandering the earth wrapped in vines and leaves and flowers, barely discernable from the trees and plants of the world.

Before any of the other fools could come forward, the brother gods Kaba'al and Daedalus barged past the other gods and sped their way towards Father Time. They had seen what had come to Elendur and they knew that now was the time they had looked forward to; now they could reach Earth. The need to find others and bend them to Kaba'al's will drove the immortal forward. Clearly not wanting to do so but finding it necessary, Kaba'al and Daedalus kneeled together before their Creator.

The master of all things looked over the pair of them and none were able to discern what passed through his sagely head. For some time Kaba'al and Daedalus kneeled before their Creator and no one spoke. Kaba'al was growing impatient; when would there be killing?! But fortunately for him, the Creator began to speak in a voice that shook the Dreamscape whole.

'You, brother gods Daedalus and Kaba'al, Daedalus the elder and Kaba'al the younger, I have watched with a keen eye. Do not think me unaware of your intentions nor of your opinion of me. You are bloodthirsty brutes, both of you. Daedalus, your thirst for power is matched only by your indomitable strength, and Kaba'al, your need for bloodshed is a gruesome curse upon us all. You are evil, both of you, and this both of you know to be true.'

Their Creator sighed a sigh that almost made Kaba'al want to repent it was filled with so much grief. He said nothing, however, and Father Time spoke again.

'You are a necessity on the planet, however, and therefore you two shall be allowed upon the Earthly plane. Though I believe that I know the answer before I ask the question, I feel I must hear it from you, Daedalus; what is it that you desire above all else?'

Daedalus, a titan among men, and a giant among gods raised his thick neck so that his icy glare may stare into the eyes of his Creator. He had pondered this very question since the beginning of his creation and new it to be true. It was what fueled his limbs and his passion, and it was with a proud roar that he stated quite clearly, "Above all else I covet Domination. I will rule the beings of the realm beyond with power and strength. With my brother beside me we will conquer your gift."

With a disappointed look in his eyes, Father Time nodded to Kaba'al elder brother. Instead of filling Kaba'al with compassion for his Creator, however, it only fueled the slaughter god's maniacal pleasure that they would be allowed to unleash such destruction upon the world. Father Time turned his head from Daedalus to Kaba'al, the same look still hanging in his eyes.

'And you, Kaba'al? What is it you wish?'

A hole appeared in what was supposed to be the head of the formless, bloody mass known as Kaba'al. It was supposed to be a mouth, but it was misshapen and far too large for any mortal being to ever contain. Blood, urine and vomit flowed from it and pooled on the floor. The vile mixture splattered on Father Time and his brother as he spoke.

"I demand what is mine by right. I demand the utter extermination of that which cannot avoid extermination. I demand all to have a primeval sense of despair, of sorrow, knowing that their lives are worthless compared to the might that is mine! I demand the means to utterly destroy all that thinks itself beautiful and right within the world! I demand power over all!"

Kaba'al smirked in his brother's direction, knowing that the two of them would, of course, have enough power to destroy all the other Children who dared to get in their way. Father Time looked immensely disappointed, but did not stop them. Instead he gave them one last bit of wisdom.

'Very well. Daedalus and Kaba'al, before I allow you passage to the mortal plane, I want you to think about your decision. The path you are choosing is one filled with suffering and pain and there is a terrible price for it. You would do well to watch yourselves and watch each other, for I fear that the greatest problems you shall face on Earth are those from within yourselves. You will be needed upon Earth to make sure that it is appreciated and cherished, as that is an important lesson for all to learn. For everything there must be an opposite, a balance, and so I unleash you two to the mortal plane.'

And with that, Father Time prepared to send the pair to the mortal plane... until Kaba'al stood up suddenly, and the Creator stopped as well, hoping in vain for an epiphany in his Child. Kaba'al turned, his hulking frame dropping bones and tissues and reeking of death as he stood before his fellow divine beings. He looked each one of them up and down in disgust. Again an inhuman hole formed on what was supposed to be a head, and Kaba'al addressed his contemporaries with a voice that was not meant to be heard in such a place as the Dreamscape.

"Fools and imbeciles, I give you a single chance to save yourselves! Upon the mortal plane I require you all to do our bidding without question! You shall become our slaves! It will be a wretched existence, to be sure, but your alternative is no existence at all! We shall hunt each of you down and destroy you entirely! Your weaknesses and impurities cannot be salvaged and none of you are fit for being divine! I'll be looking forward to rending the flesh from your corpses and desecrating all that you keep sacred."

The worst part was, as a special 'gift' that he and Daedalus had planned out, Kaba'al's mouth opened to cover nearly have his form and he let forth a huge vomit filled with the bodily fluids that had been dripping unceasingly from his jaws. The disgusting pile sat exactly where the other gods were supposed to kneel before Father Time and Kaba'al laughed; he knew that other gods couldn't affect his own divine powers. Wallowing in the filth, Father Time looked at Kaba'al and Daedalus with one last look of grief and then evil was unleashed upon the mortal plane.

The fourth being to step forth was Ur. The demeanor of his two brothers saddened him deeply. Though he had never been on Earth, he held his father's creation dearly for he knew that his toil had been great and he feared for its destruction. Thus he knelt before the Great Father and spoke so;

"O dear Father, for an eternity thou has laboured on this Earth. To see it ravaged and marred would bring great grief to me. Therefore I wish mastery over all things which are heavenly. I wish for dominion over the celestial vault as to watch over thy creation and keep it from harm. O dear Father, bestow upon me the gift to smite all those who crave for destruction and relish in the blood of innocents. And let that gift be called lightning, and let it be fearsome and like a great roar, so that the sound of it would bear a name of its own and all who heard it would shake in fear."

A small figure approached the might father of time, a trail of distorted space behind him, slowly piecing reality back as he came to a halt. Silosybin, the god of perception and of states of mind came forth to face his father and creator.

"My wish, dear father?" He spoke with a distrorted voice, at once sounding like all of the gods together, then sounding like nothing more than a whisper, "I want these mortals you create to be of spiritual nature. Curiosity, adventure. Let them study their world, so that I may dictate what it is their minds can handle."

The shining armor of Abu-Kresh was mared not by the vomit of his brother, but of the statement of them. He had been unsure of what he wished for, but with the two evil being's desicion, he knew. Standing up beside his beloved brother Ur, Abu-Kresh bowed his head. Now was the time.

"Oh great father, I see what Daedalus and Kaba'al wish, and I commend dear brother Ur to stand against them. But I see now neither must be alowed to defeat the other, less they destroy the order of the world. As such, I wish for the power of justice and law, and the ability to keep the weights of the cosmic scale in check, for that is the only way can such beings as us live, we were born from chaos and emptiness, we must be cautious as to not fall back into that void."

The saddened Father Time smiled somewhat with the arrival of Ur. Always had Ur been swift of thought, and eager to defend those in need, and so he spoke to his child:

'Son Ur, of which you ask is but a shade of your true gift. Hast thou not given thought to wind, of rain, of the weather itself? Nay, you are quick to think of ways to prevent your own brothers from destroying this great gift that perhaps they truly do not understand, but do not give thoughts to others. For it may be that through the weather itself that the fate of the world hangs upon

'And so, Dear Ur, I give to you the gift of the weather, of the ability to shape the day as thou wouldst will it to. And so in time you will learn that lightning is used to destroy, but that the sun, the rain and the snow all have their purposes also, and so you will be all the greater for it.'

And then Father Time turned to Silocyn, the small and wiley son of his, whose thoughts were always towards varying perception and points of view, and he smiled at his son.

"So it will be so, my son. You will command the nature of the beings that walks this earth, but only to a certain extent. I cannot take away the free will bestowed upon all living things, for doing so would mean certain death. However, I trust you will do what is good and right. Go forth, and may the Earth be enriched by your presence."

And then at long last, Father Time turned to Abu-Kresh and smiled.

"Perhaps, in the balance of all things is the greater beauty achieved. Thou place a heavy burden on thyself, my son. For it will be that you will find yourself standing alone as the battle for light and dark ensues. Yours is a lonely, if just path. Beware, however, that even the slightest action may tip the scales, and so you may find that many years of inaction on your own part will serve the balance better."

As Kaba'al passed him, Iach's horse neighed in anger, stomping it's hooves on the ethereal ground beneath them. Petting it to calm it down, Iach stepped from his perch and followed suit after his brothers.

Ur, he knew, would be an adversary of sorts because of his own wish, but Iach respected him no less. Silocyn was an odd one, and Iach had never fully figured him out, even in the millenia they'd known each other as brothers. And as Father Time granted Abu-Kresh his own wish, Iach's metal armor clanged as he moved forward.

As he stepped into Kaba'al's bile, he turned his head to look at his primal, and evil brothers. Turning his head to the side, Iach saw his brother Abu-Kresh next to him. His silvery armor was in deep contrast to his own black armor. And without another moment's hesitation, Iach kneeled in the Bile, showing that his respect for his father trancended any discomfort he had.

Looking up, the cold, masked voice of Iach came forth from the Helm.

"Father, I ask that you grant me my wish with your blessing. Give me control over wars! Give me the power to give men Honor!"

His metallic voice echoed as he finished speaking to his father, and Iach Rose to his feet, the bile from Kaba'al sliding off of him quickly. As he rose, Abu-Kresh left their company and the Dreamscape, destined for Earth and his duties as the keeper of the scales.

Walking in his usual, sleepy demeanor, the heavily robed God, Ja, approached his father, smoke emitting from his translucent skin. Kneeling slowly, as not to break his most precious instrument, Ja bowed his head low to his great father. The two blue ovals for eyes foricbly endured the grime of puke left behind by his brothers.

"Great father; though I may be one of your youngest sons, I have dreamt this day for many a year. To be given such gift is worthy of appreciation beyond my lifespan; there is no way I could repay you. And yet, I am left asking for three more gifts. I am sorry, great father, but while my brothers seek strength, I seek something else. I beg of you; gift me with the control of dreams and the will of Mysticism, and I shall aid in my terrible brother's cleansing. Though to hold such a burden would require something more; Give me the power to create my own children; those who would aid me in spreading the joy of dream. Grant me this, and I shall eternally be grateful. I promise, I shall not misuse the power given to me unlike Daedalus or Kaba'al."

The younger God shut his eyes as he awaited judgement of his loving father. Fear engulfed him as he stood next to his metal-clad brother; one whom Ja had come to beware.

Father Time frowned at Ja, his son, and then he smiled, for he knew now that Ja would have many quarrels with at least one of his brother over his choice. But it would be petty bickering, and that amused Father Time, for in the light of such toils between light and dark, the feuding over one's domain would be so insignificant. And yet...to their eyes, they would see it as all-important. So, chuckling to himself, Father Time spoke once more:

'Very well, Ja. The power of Mysticism is yours. Your second request, the giving of life, has already been given, to all of you, though you may only use this power once. Beyond that, such powers will drain from your own esence, and you will become less divine than you are now. The world of dreams is also in your control, though much of your own time will thus be spent sleeping in order to understand what it is you ask. Be sure those you create can tend to your every need, my son, for your sleeping may prevent you from doing much to care for yourself.'

And then, Father Time turned to Iach, and he smiled as he spoke.

"So be it, my son. Power over wars and honour is yours. But...I have a request of you. Upon going to Earth, seek out your brother Elendur...I fear my own thought has made him enamoured of the wild, and he may be unable to help thee otherwise."

Iach slammed his armored hand against his chest and bowed quickly. Upon rising once more, his voice echoed around him and his brother Ja again.

"I shall, father.", he said, and turned 'round. Mounting his horse, he drew his black spear and departed from the Dreamscape, his battlecry echoing through the Heavens.

And so, War came to Earth and with it Honor. Iach wondered when his Father would send Death down to accompany Iach and his other brothers. For with war must come Death.

With a kick, the Black Steed galloped across the skies of Earth, Northbound, looking for his brother Elendur. Iach wished for his task to be completed. For after that, his people would be created.

"Thank you, father. My gratitude will forever be yours."

The translucent figure smiled greatly as the smoke eminated furiously from his form. Standing up and bowing low, Ja walked towards the end of his saftey. Taking one worried look back to his siblings, Ja took a deep breath as his form left the dreamscape; With him, a future unknown.

And with Ja, came the creation of the unreality known as dream.

Deep within the wild forests of the world, the wild things speak to each other of a walking, speaking tree. This strange tree wandered the earth, speaking to the wild things in an unfathomable tongue. The creature seems awed by every minute thing, from the smallest seed to the greatest animal. And as it wanders, the tree-being seems to give them names in it's own strange tongue.

But the animals do not complain of this tree-being's passing, for in it's wake, the grass is richer, the fruit grows riper, and spring blossoms even in the coldest winter.

As the two forms soared into Creation like an oncoming army bent on destruction, the smashed into their gift's surface and plunged through the rocky substance. It was no task of great effort to destroy this world, and Dedealus frowned. Though he wanted to control and dominate, he wanted a challenge. And then, he turned to his brother.

The creature beside him had become some type of shapeshifting abomination, strung all about him were creatures, obviously dead and decaying. Now if these creatures were dead, why could he not breath life into them?!

Reaching out, he noticed something else. His pincers were no longer that, just strong muscular paws. He had become a wolf, the first predator of this world. And it made him angry. With a lunge he dived into Kaba'al's being and ripped him apart, blood and disease flying everywhere. Though Kaba'al was still alive, from his desecrated limbs spawned beings of their own. They were wolf-like like the Rage God, yet vicious like Kaba'al. But as he watched them, he was disgusted. They were not as mighty and they could be killed even by the other beings of this world. What madness was this? And it dawned upon him. Though by himself, he could destroy this world in a mere thought, they could not. He would lead them, and they would destroy it for him.

"The are to be called "Ussej" for they are inferior than us."

Far away in distant lands, Elendur, who had lost himself to the lure of nature, shuddered, as he felt the terrible evil course through the earth and change it. No longer was the ground innocent, for some great and fell creation had marred the earth, and in doing so, much of what Father Time had created in thought with Elendur had died.

And though to a certain extent this awoke Elendur, and brought him back from his primal state, the shock was too much, and the poor god wept in fury and in sorrow. In seeing this, so also did the birds, beasts and plants of the world wail out in their own sorrow, and across the world the sorrow of the first loss to mortality was heard and felt, and none who heard it forgot it, not even the gods themselves, who still hear the sorrow in those cries to this day, and will do so until the end of time itself.

But even sorrow and grief passes with time, and so Elendur rose eventually, and with heavy heart, he continued his wandering, and his conversing with the beasts and the plants and trees, though the plants were less brilliant, and the animals less magnificent, and so the true first spring of Earth is said to have ended, with the coming of the Ussej.

The mass of body parts and blood left on the ground trembled and started slowly crawling back together... until suddenly they sprang upwards, and out of a pool of rotting flesh and blood, Kaba'al's usual form sprang upwards.

He was preparing to draw one of his axes and cleave Daedalus in two for such an insult, but instead looked upon his brother's creation. They were... alright, he supposed. Kinda ugly, but Kaba'al could tell they had the same spirit, the same will to conquer, that was also within himself and his brother. He stopped for a moment and stared at the beings.

"Why'd you make them so ugly? Here, let me help."

Kaba'al's arm formed a massive hand with claw-like fingers and with it Kaba'al ripped into a patch of Daedalus's fur violently. Not caring whether his brother minded or not, he took the patch of fur and skin and draped it over the beings in front of him. If he had left them as they were, the stupid little things would be bleeding all over the place like Kaba'al was.

"Now they look kinda like your ugly face. So anyway... what are we gonna do with 'em now, kill them? Throw them at one of the other gods? Maybe we could pit them against each other and whoever survives could become our eternal slave?"

The being of Abu-Kresh's first act would be to sort the chaos of the world. His blessed pressence on the planet gave birth to what is now known as natural order, the roles of all species as they came to be were recorded and enforced. The gift of morality was given unto the developed children of the gods, and he set to work on shaping his people. Crafting their skin from the brown stone of the mountains, their hair from the strands of night sky, their eyes of stars, and their muscle of the moon. He named the Ashtadii, and gave unto them the written law, and taught them morality and justice, and gave them the Sanskrit of Abu-Kresh. A great tome of information, enough to keep them busy for generations.

He was one of the few gods who truly heard the sobing of Elendur, for it meant the begining of his task. He set out, leaving his people largely to their own devices, for any more influence would cause the natural progression and order of his people to shift. He wandered, bestowing his gift in secret to whoever he met. For the moment, those he met were few and far between, for only his brothers Elendur, Kaba'al and Daedalus had decended to Earth.
