I never really understood how people loved the first three, but hate the prequels. Guess I watched the prequels first, but whenever I watch the 'original' I can't get over the fact that everything looks so damned fake.

Guys, there is such a thing as spamming and piling on. I answered the question. You're now posting but contributing nothing. Please stop.

Well I think we'll have to agree to disagree, because I'm not a fan of the acting in the original three films. Sure, the prequels have some very weak scenes when it comes to acting, too. For a movie like star wars all you really see are actors and special effects. The script can be great and the angle of the camera perfect, but if your actors and special effects are not, the whole thing falls apart.

Ah well on a star wars rp forum, I could have guessed this was some sort of a sensitive subject, judging from the dots.

By your logic, we should just eliminate over 80% of the entire history of the entire Western cinematic medium and that's excluding European, Asian and Russian cinema.

Star Wars : The Empire Strikes Back remains to this day, as one of the most expertly executed and incredibly well crafted blockbusters of the last century. The acting was all but perfect for each respective role, the writing was on par with high level theatre productions and novels and the visuals were not only incredibly original but inherintely striking and vastly ahead of their time.

Your comments embody the epitome of cinematic ignorance and warped logic and you need to be severely educated about not only film, but storytelling as a whole.

Don't mind him, Valdir. He's just a sheep you get used to eventualy.

On the topic, the newest trailer still does not make me more excited then before. Looks good, and that's what I'll prolly think of it when I see it. The fact that one book is being translated into three films makes me wonder though. I just never really considered these and the LotR movies as the greatest people say, just my opinion that will warrent much uneeded hate and slander from others.

Let's please keep all talk of the prequels out of this thread now, unless it's the previously made comparisons between the prequels and The Hobbit. Otherwise, we have a Star Wars Saga board for Star Wars-specific discussion.

And apparently passive aggressiveness from you. You just ceded any moral high ground.

Anywho, I'm still looking forward to The Hobbit a lot, this looks a little weird? I guess, but it's Peter Jackson, he did an amazing job with The Ring Saga so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt until I see it on the big screen.

We've already established that Mulluns is an easily offended dunce, stating it is just redundant.

The trailer garnered no interest from me, other than an interest as to just what the hell their special effects guys where thinking.

There has to be something you're noticing that I'm not with the special effects. It looks fine to me. Looks a bit cleaner than the other three but I wouldn't call it bad in the slightest.

I have more of an eye for these things I guess, based on my own background in the arts, but it's horribly noticeable for me throughout the entire trailer. It felt like I was watching the prequels, or Avatar, synthetic environments populated by actors with make up that only looks bad because of the high quality of the camera that's shooting them.

It's like syndicated procedural television shows, in a certain light you can clearly see the make up on a male actors face.

I get where you're coming from Kaeb, honestly I do. But, for me at least, LOTR had some pretty jarring scenes where the CGI was obvious too.

For me personally, I'm still excited about this, and I expect the movie will still be really good - especially with those scenes spaced out across the movie, you won't be constantly bashed in the face with those CGI wideshots like you are in the trailer.

Interesting that they included the Mountain Giants. Beorn looks interesting too...at least I think that's Beorn. I haven't read the Hobbit in a while, so I could be forgetting someone.

LOTR holds up decently, what comes to mind is the Troll from Fellowship of the Ring...yeah, that wasn't awesome lol.

Only thing about the entirety of those films that bothered me in terms of CGI.

Some of the wide shots of Rivendell weren't the best either imo.

I don't know whether to anticipate or dread this.

If it's like a tiny cameo that won't be mentioned again, It'll be fine. A recurring character on the other hand...
