Since Kaeb has already dissected your poor, sad and very sheltered opinion to shreds, i'll just address this one bit that annoys me.

Regardless of whether that is the intent, asking a number is just asking a number, and no matter how we dance around the issue there is nothing illegal about it. California might be the exception, but I do not know their state laws.
Actually… In some circumstances it is. Workplace harassment, for instance. State and Federal office buildings (In australia at least).

But ultimately **** legality.

Pull your head out of your poorly educated ass and be a compassionate human being and care about how your actions affect others.

But am I required, legally, to do so?

On the whole, I disagree with you there.

MRA's have a far worse track record when it comes to those kinds of tactics, because that's almost directly what their movement was founded upon, while feminism is on the whole about egalitarianism, but specifically addressing the plight of women/some transfolk so that they can be made to be equal in spectrums wherein men are largely privileged. If you want, we can go more in depth and I can provide examples of this?

It can get pretty ugly/depressing though, but it's a good discussion to have.
I don't really disagree with anything you just said, but at the same time I don't see how that goes against what I said. Both sides' virulent aspects are bad as a whole and the issues each side face are intimately related. You're just sabotaging yourself in the end by a) making yourself and your association look bad and b) stopping legitimate discussion.

Put simply, the men in the video didn't behave the way they did simply because 'men are pigs'. Shaming men or 'emasculating' the male identity isn't going to end this kind of behaviour. The issues on both sides feed off of each other.

Yeah, but I think you're approaching it incorrectly by supposing too much about the merits of conflation in this instance.

Men's rights activists are for more debilitating to the rights of men then feminists are, but the same cannot be said for feminists being debilitating against female rights, because again, MRA's are more debilitating there too than any 'feminist extremist'. There are far more issues with MRA's, that's the point I'm making.

There are warped takes on ideology within every ideology there is mate, that'll never change, no matter how much we educate people, the point is too educate as many as we can.

One time I had a Tumblr feminist tell me to kill myself because I made a post about beards, and they proceeded to tell me how it is unfair to talk about them because FTM Trans have difficulty growing them, and I should be more cautious of triggering material, when I wasn't aware I even had any transgendered followers.

Truthfully, I love feminism. I'm all for equal rights, if a woman is capable of doing the same job as me, she deserves the same pay (Granted my pay isn't desirable in the first place.) Catcalling and the likes is wrong though. Just at certain times for me, there is a line that gets blurred for me between legitimate issues and whining about nothing. The main reason why I just feel uncomfortable identifying as a feminist is partially because that overtly hostile minority which seems to get all the attention. I hate how Tumblr and the internet age has evolved feminism to some degree and in my opinion, negatively in some areas. Often times, I see people who claim to have egalitarian views, but then not hesitate to denounce an entire group purely based on their gender. People often forget when they debate (including online), that you should be trying to convince the other that their opinion isn't the same as yours, but instead people often rather just find it easier to attack their person.

But every group of anything has that one minority which gives a bad name to some degree. Muslims have Al-Qaeda, Christians have Westboro Baptist, and Whites have skinheads.

tl;dr I like feminism. I don't like 'kill all the white men' feminism.

Yeah, but consider the fact that those fanatics are also circumstantial and can differ based on the severity of their ideologies.

''Crazy Tumblr feminists'' are an extremely minuscule representation of feminism as a whole.

I see your points, and concede my (unwillingly) narrow perspective. Like I said, a LOT of issues that I've come to see after living in the city are new to me, and still try to understand. Just want to pick out this little section.

Again, put yourself in the shoes of a woman who is catcalled, objectified and harassed in subtle and not subtle ways every day of her life, and then see if you still believe in this bullshit your spouting, fueled by your clearly willfully narrow perspective.

I think you suppose a little too much about the value of your opinion on women's bodies mate. Again, put yourself in their social situation, think about how you would feel if so much value was placed on your body over you as a person, by not just our culture, but your own friends and family. It's psychologically and in many cases, physically damaging. For women and men.

I know not of what it's like to be catcalled day in and day out, but I know what it's like to be called an ugly **** day in and day out since I was but a wee lad. I grew up feeling my body was much more important than I was as a person by perceived friends and a couple family members, much less from society. It is definitely damaging in many ways. That, along with a few other finer details in my life has left me to suffer from being bi-polar depressant, and not a day goes by that I don't think about putting a bullet in my head because of the psychological damage I've been left with. But I tread on, with faith that the world will get better.

Not to kick you while your down, but that last point further proves my own.

Think about what you just described about yourself and ascribe it to nearly every single woman on this planet. They suffer it more severely than you likely ever will, and they suffer the consequences of it more severely than you likely ever will either.

That being said, your concession is happily accepted mate, just keep your mind open and listen to what people say alright?

Chin up and all that.

I think the perspective that Kaeb just put this in is good, where he talked about women facing this, but yours is also a very valid point. It doesn't speak to a culture of objectification or, to a lesser degree, sexualization, but it does speak to a culture of bullying where if you don't meet a certain idea of manliness, you are somehow "less than." Which goes back to what Gregor was saying about how there are legitimate issues that men face.

Wow, just wow. This is quite shocking to be honest... If women in NYC have to endure this every day I feel sorry for them. Not saying that all New Yorkers are like this, obviously, I just don't understand why anyone would feel that it would be appropriate to just randomly shout out to people in the street like that. I guess it might be a cultural difference because I live on the other side of the globe but over here something like this would never happen... from my experience.

Now to quote Kaeb's brilliance and have some laughs.

Am I legally required to wipe my own asshole?

No, but you probably should... you know... every now and then... maybe... if you don't have anything else going on.

Just imagine yourself in the same situation, every ****ing day and night of your life and imagine that during these instances, you are living in a culture in which your body is incessantly commidified, sexualised and objectified. In a culture in which you are told that your value should be based on these traits as well.

Bro, that happens to me all the time. So much in fact that I have two threesomes every morning before I even get to work...

That's why I'm late to work... and not because I like sleeping in.

Many of those legitimate male issues are also being addressed through feminism as well, which is another great thing about it tbh.

It's something Emma Watson spoke to very well in her speech to the United Nations. For those who don't know, she basically framed it like this: if feminism is about equality for women, then by its very nature and by default it's about equality for all, which includes tackling issues that men face in society.

She's gorgeous, but if people value that above the fact that she's a great actress and, now, a rising humanitarian, then that's a problem.

Didn't know she did humanitarian work too. You go Watson. Not gonna watch that though.

Just doesn't interest me enough at 11pm. I'd much rather exchange VMs with Cassa.

Cassa > Emma Watson. ::D:
