As much as I don't like Hillary Clinton, emailgate is already fizzling. It'll be a non-factor, since the election is still so far away, and she's still ahead in the polls. The serious GOP candidates have also used private emails during their tenures in office, which helps Clinton.

Obama also has fairly mid-level approval ratings. Based on recent polls he's anywhere from 47% to 50%.

You're right I think she will win the democratic nomination but I think in the general this and benghazi will still come back up and hurt her. But yeah the bush administration did the same thing. The ironic thing is that I if I recall Hillary was one of the people that really criticized bush for that.

Benghazi has been around for 2 and a half years and has had no political consequences because it's not an actual scandal. Every right-wing talking point on it has been debunked, including in a report from the Republican House Intelligence Committee, and the public - outside the far right - has proven that it doesn't matter to them. The GOP will bring up Benghazi but it'll have very little political effect, if any.

The Republicans are going to nominate Jeb Bush, who has also used private emails, and who doesn't have the grounds with which to go after her on it during a general, because he can get hit with the same criticism. Bengha:cc will be a non-factor.

Unfortunately. I seriously dislike the woman due to her blithering performance as Sec of State; she behaves like a nagging mother, and I've had enough of that. She harps on civil rights infringements (for the U.S. this is increasingly ironic) and ignores historic grievances Russia and China have with the U.S. (for example, she wags her finger at China for their Tibet treatment, ignoring the fact that the entire Tibetan condition is due to the CIA's "failure" in 1956-59 [some say the CIA wanted Tibet to become what it was, which is why they sought to get the Dalai Lama out rather than increase funding for the Chushi Gangdruk])

I still don't feel that the Democrats have what it takes to make the pendulum swing back in their favor in the next 2 years. Maybe they do. I'd rather they not, not if it means Hilary gets to captain the ship. She's the wrong person to have in office with Ukraine and Syria going on. Although, can you imagine how hilarious North Korean commentary on her dress attire would be? I already think their commentary on Park Geun-hye is ridiculous, I can't wait to see them rail into her with their ridiculousness. Then again, I'm also genuinely afraid that Ted Cruz might convince the majority of Republican voters (who seem to always be parochial idiots) he's amazing.

Well, if you go by the history of the last 100 years, the Republicans will win. A second term president is disaster for their political party. It's called The Six Year Itch.. Basically their party loses seats in congress their second term. Thomas Jefferson is the only President to gain seats in Congress during his second term, and Bill Clinton is the only one who held onto them. Obama already lost Congress, so that's been proven true for his presidency.

We also have to look at the history of two-term presidents and the heir apparent. Since WWII, only one two term President has ever had his own political party maintain the presidency, and that was Reagan in '88 (Bush served one term). That's pretty telling. And with the NSA, ISIS, a critique of Obama's foreign policy (Which I think is utter shit), Snowden, The bullshit statistics that get spouted (on both sides, I'm not going to choose one here), and all the other fun stuff happening on Capitol Hill, I'm pretty sure history will repeat itself. Again.

Demographics still trend Democratic for at least the next election. However, I think Jeb Bush has a very strong path towards the White House.

I'm just going with history. After Bush (the original) demographics trended strongly Republican, but Clinton still won. But I do agree, Jeb has a very good shot. I think a major selling point for him is he's just way more likeable than Hillary.

I will choose the lesser of two evils and vote Democrat. Unless a sane Republican actually turns up, but I won't hold my breath for that unlikely event to occur.

I like how the title of this thread is just "Election 2016" and not "U.2 Election 2016." It really drives home the point that America is the only country that matters, and that unless otherwise stated, it is the "default country."

God bless America.

Quoted for truth. America is the only country that matters. All other countries are babies.

I titled it so other elections could be discussed as well, I just didn't mention any other elections in the opening post as I don't know what other countries have elections coming up.

Are you implying there are countries other than America?

This.

Although, TBH the 2016 Taiwan elections will be very important for Americans to watch. If they look like the DPP is going to win, expect a Fourth Taiwan Strait Crisis to get sparked. China is getting its ducks in a row with Korea and Japan and even India right now so that it can focus on the South China Sea, especially Taiwan, next year.

The General Election is coming up in the United Kingdom. Hung parliament.

Anywho, as I've explained before, I've changed my registration to Republican and have started to bundle moneyz for Jeb Bush.

I support Ted Cruz's candidacy, but there are vicious rumours about his place of birth that are being circulated by the left. I wish he would just produce his birth certificate to prove conclusively that he was indeed born in the U.S. and not in Canada. This smear campaign must stop.
