DESCRIPTION​

The AMS-8500 light freighter is a small transport manufactured by Amalgamated Movement Services, an up-and-coming corporation based on the planet Alsakan which provides everything from shipping insurance to spacecraft. Originally designed to fill out the company's extensive rental fleet, the 8500 has found also success on the open market, with AMS allowing sales to individual buyers; the company has restricted the type from fleet sales, however, and has pursued legal action against any entity trying to accumulate large numbers of these craft for commercial use. Independent cargo pilots receive no such harassment.

Designed to be simple and easy to fly by rental customers who may never have flown a starship before, the AMS-8500 has won awards for its logical control layout, easy but willing handling and well thought out systems. 28 meters in length, the ship has a split dagger configuration, with the cockpit located between the forward mandibles. Sporty for what amounts to a space-going rental van, it can reach a top speed of 60 MGLT, and is equipped with a class 2 hyperdrive. Cargo capacity is 85 standard tons, and onboard consumables are sufficient for up to 2 standard months in space. The ship has a crew of 2 - pilot and copilot - plus 6 passengers.

Although the majority of 8500s available to renters through AMS are unarmed for insurance purposes, individually sold examples are available with the option of twin fixed medium laser cannons in the mandible tips, and/or a defensive dorsal twin medium laser turret. These are very common in privately owned AMS-8500s.

AMS-8500s are growing to be a popular option for independent starship owners, and Amalgamated Movement Services has even begun to give the likes of CEC a run for its credits in certain markets.

UNIQUE DETAILS​

The Pauper's Harvest is owned and licensed by Kotii Solus under an alias. The ship has received numerous aftermarket modifications. Some made by Hauron and others by Kotii while others already had been made by previous owners. A pair of brigs have been installed for holding prisoners.

A S3 smart ship AI suite has been added and reset to be devoted to the ship's capabilities, acting as a permanent crew member. The downgraded weaponry and the prioritization on speed makes the ship a hidden gem. Those that know Mandalorians are less likely to suspect a vessel with downgraded armaments.

Several small scatterweave lined smuggling compartments are built into the Harvest's design. Inside are supplies, equipment and weapons that Kotii might use on his travels on the Harvest.

LEGALITY​

Illegal. Light freighters such as the AMS-8500 are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems. However, some of the modifications made to this ship make it illegal in some regards though these have to be discovered first and this ship does not draw a lot of attention if any.

INTENT​

To create a personal beginning transport for my character that is a common sight and allows them to relatively travel undetected. This ship and others will be part of his in-sheeps'-clothing project. Perfect for smugglers and people on the run. Based on the AMS-8500 light freighter.
