But then you should know he isn't the only villain and it won't all carry on him.

The Liberators? Or when he summoned all those monsters? Either one would look pretty ****ing stupid in this movie, but the enemies they fight are tipped to be the Skrull though.

Those where just films off the top of my head, Nine Inch Nails are hugely famous for their covers of popular songs. Another one off the top of my head is The Crow. ****ing love that movie.

Not always. I actually like how Thor had the location be a small town in New Mexico and how the Incredible Hulk movie spanned a few locations as did Iron Man. Captain America it was part of his story to be there so that makes perfect sense and they didn't really utilize what we consider to be New York till the very end of the film.

Don't get me wrong, I love New York, I'm going there in a month, but it being used as a location in every action film under the sun has grown extremely tiresome over the last fricking decade. What possible reason could Loki have to attack it?

They're probably using New York as it's the epicentre of most Marvel Earth-based events.

I don't read ultimates, unfortunatley, but I know the films are a normal-ultimate blend. I presume everything is all centred on NY in the ultimate universe too?

My first thought was liberators, but I remember reading Skrull somewhere.

Other than being the economic and diplomatic capital of the world, I can't really think of any reason why an alien attacking Earth would go after New York City.

But to actually go there?

I thought that the trailer looked decently good, it interested me more than the other hero movies that have come out lately at least.

aaaand this.

I think if they can get the characters to play off each other correctly it'll be a good movie, and with the current set of actors having proved themselves previously as quality folks, I think we can assume that even if the storyline is bad, the acting will make up for at least some of that.

If I were an evil alien and I was attacking Earth, I'd start with New York City, yes.

He doesn't want to desroy earth though or just cause destruction for the sake of it though, that's what I'm saying to you.

The Skrull actually subvert SHIELD and the Avengers when they occupy New York, if I remember correctly, forcing mutants to come out in the open or be hunted down and all that.

So... The Skrull being the attackers doesn't make sense to me unless they're f*ing around with Marvel lore as I've been told. Cause... I was in a Marvel RP, free-form, and we went through the whole Skrull attack canonically at first, where SHIELD was subverted, Stark had Captain American killed or something(CA died anyways, forget why), and then... Well, we veered from canon and started waging war against SHIELD and the Sentinels and Avengers....

I miss my muty but that was a fun time. Even had a humanoid robot assassin and killed some SHIELD folks. :)

I just looked into it, and he wants to rule Earth as a tyrant. My answer still stands. If you want to take over the world, then you have to get rid of the United Nations and the global financial system or else you won't stand a chance.

Take out New York and you've accomplished both of those things.

But that's never the reason for New York being attacked in film, name one movie that had brought up that reasoning. I'm not disputing your logic, it's sound and where I benevolent psychopath it would be in my crosshairs as well, but Loki is a frustrated rejected child who resents his brother and longs to prove to his father he is capable of earning his respect. He's not looking to have a targeted take over, he wants to be a king.

Every movie I can think of that has New York getting destroyed is because of mindless violence, it's never due to coordination against the epicenters of our resources, economy and government.

I'm not talking about every movie, I'm just talking about this one.

Loki is having a temper tantrum, yes, and he thinks that by taking over the world he can earn his father's respect as well as his own respect. But at the same time, you've got to do it right if you're going to do it at all.

Even a bratty child like Loki is going to know that you can't just become king of a planet like Earth without getting rid of the financial system and the United Nations. If either of those exist, they will own your ass.

Loki is a magical comic book super villain, he's not a terrorist from a procedural law enforcement television series.

Cloverfield, I Am Legend...there's no point in me even listing them because you all get my point. Those movies had scenes of New York being destroyed in some way or another by a mindless onsluaght, they make heavy use of the city in the plot utilizing well known landmarks. It's an incredibly cheap writing technique just to keep the viewer interested because New York is a unique city, it had to expand upward instead of outward because of the size of the island. It's iconic and that is why it is used, it is never utilized to any smart degree that's integral to the plot which is where my worry lies.

Yay, Kaeb arguing about a movie that is not entirely original!

He was a minor character in the film, not the main character, his appearance on the film makes up roughly 25% of it.
I'm sorry... But I cannot even take you serious with this comment, at all. You either know nothing about Fantastic Four, are being stupid or you're just failing very bad at trolling. The film is not about three, it's about four, and he is one of them.

And no intentions what so ever. When it comes to Marvel and DC comics, I tend to avoid the majority of them due to so many versions, retcons, stupid plot devices, and so on. I'll stick to the films and animated films and classify them as their own things.

Does anyone else have a problem with the "If we can't protect the earth, you can be damn sure we'll avenge it." How can they actually approve that as a line of dialogue? It's like a step above "Don't be so mayo"

Whose arguing? Some of us can have thoughtful conversations and demonstrate intelligence and criticism in our discussions. :)

The comic book was about four, that movie. Was not.
